Stewart & Stevenson is hiring a Buyer II at 10750 Telge Road, Houston, TX 77095. The role involves overseeing and coordinating the purchasing and tracking of all parts necessary for current manufacturing jobs. Experience in manufacturing, particularly with fabrication drawings, reading prints, tolerances, material types, and welding symbols, is preferred.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure the best pricing and delivery dates for each part.
2. Monitor parts status for each job on the build schedule.
3. Provide technical support and training to other buyers.
4. Supply weekly parts status reports to the purchasing manager before weekly meetings.
5. Coordinate with the logistics team for unit or product movement between locations.
6. Follow up daily on all open purchase orders to maintain status.
7. Confirm delivery of all ordered parts at least one week before the build start date.
8. Work overtime, including evenings and weekends.
9. Maintain a strong commitment to safety culture.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Skills in analyzing technical specifications and bids.
2. Ability to establish effective working relationships.
3. Knowledge of warehouse and inventory operations is preferred.
4. Experience with inventory software and programs.

Education/Experience

Computer Skills

1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
2. Experience with ERP systems, preferably Oracle.
3. Familiarity with demand forecasting tools, such as E3.
