Job summary

Planet Group in Austin, TX is seeking a Commodity Buyer for a 12-month contract. The role is hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote) with pay $33-$36 per hour DOE. You will build a contract database, support procurement, and manage Ariba files.

Experience in indirect goods, 5+ years, SAP Ariba preferred; IT purchasing priority; semiconductor background beneficial; bachelor's degree or 4 years substitutable.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of purchasing experience; eight years preferred.
• Experience purchasing indirect goods (e.g., office furniture, software products).
• Experience with SAP Ariba is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with standard purchasing docs (BOMs, specs).

Responsibilities

• Create a contract database covering all vendors and details.
• Assist Procurement with purchase orders and projects; manage Ariba files.
• Analyze data: vendor quotes, parts lists, reports.
• Negotiate bids with suppliers on price, delivery, and terms.
• Manage open orders to optimize supplier performance.
• Evaluate supplier performance using various rating methods.
• Support cost-reduction activities; interact with customers.
• Produce reports, statistics and strategies.
• During training, expect full-time in-office attendance for initial period.

Responsibilities:

• Will work on creating a contract database that includes all vendors and related details.
• Assist Procurement team with purchase order activities and projects. Manage and maintain Ariba files
• Analyze and communicate relevant data such as vendor quotes, parts lists, reports, etc.
• Obtain, evaluate and negotiate bids from suppliers for price, delivery, quality, and terms and conditions
• Manage open order base to optimize maximum supplier performance
• Evaluate supplier performance with various rating methods
• Assist with cost reduction activities
• Interact effectively with internal and external customers
• Produce reports, statistics, and strategies
• During the first couple of weeks of training, full-time in-office attendance is expected

Requirements:

• Experience Required: Commodity Buyer with experience purchasing indirect goods (e.g., office furniture, software products, etc.).
• Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience; eight years preferred
• Bachelor's degree can be substituted by minimum of 4 years direct work experience
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing desired; electronics industry background at a minimum.
• Priority Skill: Purchasing IT products is a higher priority than semiconductor buying experience.
• SAP Ariba experience preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Products such as Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Experience in standard purchasing practices related to associated manufacturing, documents (BOMs, specifications, etc.)
