Job summary

in a related field, and solid knowledge of material planning systems. Local travel may be required; a valid driver’s license is needed.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Business Administration, Industrial Management, or Engineering with 2-3 years purchasing/materials management experience.
• Strong negotiation and written/verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of material planning systems and BOMs.
• Understanding of cost accounting principles and cost reduction strategies.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Purchase Order administration: planning, placement, releases, and lot size decisions.
• Inventory control and maintenance of planning policies.
• Ensure current technical data accompanies POs when required.
• Use spreadsheets or databases to track critical materials and reflect data in management systems.
• Process rejected materials: rework, supplier returns, and reordering.
• Expedite commodities to obtain acceptable delivery dates.
• Resolve receiving or invoicing discrepancies.
• Monitor supplier performance and recommend corrective actions.
• Make supplier field trips to maintain relationships and resolve issues.
• Other duties as assigned to support cost and inventory reductions.
