Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a procurement-focused professional to support requisitions, obtain purchase orders, and assist multiple departments with financial processes. The role involves interacting with vendors and maintaining documentation within the ECM and Lawson systems.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, at least one year of procurement experience (public sector preferred), and strong Excel/Word skills, with excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate.
  • 1 year procurement experience required; public sector preferred.
  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word).
  • Organizational skills; high attention to detail and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Math and accounting skills.
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
  • Working knowledge of Lawson Financial System preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and shops requisitions.
  • Processes requisitions into purchase orders; reviews and modifies purchase orders.
  • Provides public relations assistance in dealing with vendors and other departments; inputs vendor information.
  • Tracks or monitors budget expenditures; recommends equipment expenditures.
  • Confirms merchandise ordered is received when applicable.
  • Assists other departments/end-users on financial and electronic content management system (ECM); assists other departments in problem solving.
  • Assists other employees with their duties.
  • Tracks and coordinates problems and resolutions as they relate to contract terms and conditions due to vendor’s failure to meet specification of term contract.
  • Reviews, resolves and investigates buyer messages and AP reconciliation messages in the financial system software.
  • Receives and verifies vendor insurance certificates when applicable.
  • Reviews and processes requests for creation, approval, and distribution through the enterprise content management (ECM) system.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate County managers.
  • Assists with front desk duties.

Compensation

Starting salary range: $22.96 – $28.70 hourly based on qualifications.
