Job summary

ABEC in Bethlehem is seeking a Buyer to procure specialized mechanical, electrical, and bioprocess equipment for global biotech manufacturing projects. You will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and exact technical specifications.

The role emphasizes supplier evaluation, negotiation, and continuous improvement, with close coordination across Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales to keep projects moving forward.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain.
• 1–5 years of procurement or supply chain experience in a technical manufacturing environment.
• Biotechnology, industrial equipment, engineering, automation, or heavy manufacturing experience is valued.

Responsibilities

• Procure mechanical, electrical, structural, and bioprocess components for large-scale manufacturing projects.
• Review BOMs, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for supplier accuracy.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities, manufacturing processes, quality standards, and delivery performance.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, warranties, and commercial terms for best value.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales to support project success.
• Monitor long-lead materials and provide status updates to project teams.
• Resolve supplier and material issues while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce costs; strengthen supplier partnerships.
• Participate in supplier visits, technical audits, and on-site inspections.
