Job summary

ABEC is seeking a Buyer to procure highly specialized mechanical, electrical, and bioprocess components for our rapidly expanding manufacturing operations. You will collaborate with Engineering, Design, and Project Management to interpret specs, evaluate vendor capabilities, and manage supplier relationships to meet strict biopharmaceutical standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain with a technical focus.
• 1–5 years of procurement experience in technical manufacturing, biotech, or heavy engineering.
• Ability to read mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical datasheets.
• Experience with ERP/MRP platforms (Infor Syteline a plus) and BOM data analysis in Excel.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to bridge technical discussions between internal engineers and external vendors.
• Self-starter, analytical, highly organized, adaptable to changing designs and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Source and procure complex mechanical, electrical components, and bioprocess systems.
• Review engineering drawings to ensure supplier quotes align with specs.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery, terms, warranties, and returns for specialized equipment.
• Maintain and improve vendor relationships with on-time delivery and quality metrics.
• Coordinate with design engineering to resolve part-number discrepancies and documentation.
