Department: Purchasing Salary:$49,400 - $56,200

Description:

Responsible for purchase of goods and services of a complex andtechnical nature for the University. Review and analyzes purchaserequisitions, proposals, and bids.

• Process and approve complex purchases within a specificcommodity grouping to meet departmental needs for goods andservices; establishes specifications, prepares proposals, reviewsbids, and ensures proper documentation.
• Audit for contract compliance to identify and pro-activelymanage problems and resolve issues.
• May serve as agent for UH Purchasing Department with stateand federal agencies, vendors, UH System Administration, and thecampus community.
• Provides guidance and assistance to requisitioning'sdepartments regarding purchases; act as a liaison between vendorsand departments for order status, procurement procedures, andproblem resolutions.
• Maintains awareness of most current market trends andtechniques to ensure the most cost-efficient purchases.
• May provide guidance to clerical support staff.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical andpractical aspects of an analytical, technical or professionaldiscipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professionaldiscipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtainedthrough a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a collegeor university or an equivalent in-depth specialized trainingprogram that is directly related to the type of work beingperformed.

Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-relatedexperience.
