Job summary

American Place Casino in Illinois is seeking a skilled Casino Buyer to source, negotiate, and procure goods and services for multiple casino departments, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely delivery. You will safeguard compliance with internal policies, Title 31, and gaming regulations, while developing supplier diversity initiatives and managing supplier relationships to support operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in a casino or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of purchasing & financial systems (e.g. Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamics) and supplier portals.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or relevant certifications (e.g. A.P.P, CPP or CPSM) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maximizing participation of small, local, and minority business enterprises in contracts, professional services, and goods and services in accordance with company direction and strategy.
  • Development of internal strategies and coordination to implement methods to achieve purchasing objectives and monitor compliance with all policies, procedures, and all applicable laws.
  • Provide advice and guidance for the appropriate handling of bidder participation.
  • Evaluate and meet with diverse suppliers to assess their capabilities and drive opportunities to increase participation of diverse suppliers in the procurement process.
  • Identify, research, and evaluate suppliers that meet the standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of products and services. Ensure contracts are negotiated and executed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in managing high complexity strategic sourcing transactions, negotiations, and supplier selection for products and services. Manage relationships for suppliers within the category.
  • Perform supply market data analysis and recommends suppliers and vendors.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all purchases adhere to internal policies, Title 31, and gaming commission regulations. Maintain accurate records for audits and reporting.
  • Recognize ineffective strategies or processes and recommend alternative approaches or solutions to capitalize on change.
  • Arrange transport of goods and track orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels.
  • Process requisitions and update management on the status of orders.
  • Assess the quality of stock received and elevate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who WE Are Looking For

The Casino Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services across casino departments, ensuring cost-effectiveness, compliance, and timely delivery. What Is Expected Of YOU
  • 3+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in a casino or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of integrated purchasing & financial systems (e.g. Great Plains, Microsoft Dynamic - EZCM, Red Rock, Supplier Portals).
  • Experience in the supervision of others and building effective relationships with people from diverse backgrounds at all levels of management.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or relevant certifications (e.g. A.P.P, CPP or CPSM) Preferred
  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Google Workspace.
  • Ability to handle both internal and external customer service communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
  • Progressively responsible experience in Supplier Diversity purchasing activities to include partnerships with Supplier Diversity organizations and development of Corporate Supplier Diversity initiatives.
Physical Requirements
  • Required to attend/host meetings and events, (both in-person, offsite and virtually).
  • Sitting at a desk for a period of time up to 8 hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 Lbs.
