Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking an experienced Buyer for our South Elgin, IL facility. This role balances tactical purchasing with strategic sourcing, overseeing about $20M in annual packaging spend and collaborating with suppliers to optimize costs and supply reliability.

The ideal candidate will have strong MRP planning experience and ERP systems know-how (SAP preferred), Excel prowess, and a track record of negotiating favorable contracts while improving supplier performance across multi-site

Job description

We're seeking an experienced Buyer who can successfully balance tactical purchasing responsibilities with strategic sourcing initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to manage approximately $20M in packaging spend, influence supplier strategy, lead cost-saving initiatives, and support critical manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong procurement foundation, experience with MRP planning and ERP systems, and the ability to manage both day-to-day purchasing activities and long-term sourcing strategies.

Hours: Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm (some flexibility)

Hybrid (one day at home)

What You'll Do

Strategic Procurement & Sourcing

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies across packaging categories
• Lead supplier selection processes and RFP development

Qualifications

Job Type & Location

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
