Job summary

IDEX Corporation in Oklahoma City is seeking a Supply Chain Buyer to procure raw materials, manage inventory, and support production requirements in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

You'll use MRP/ERP systems (JD Edwards) to optimize material availability, monitor PO status, forecast needs, and collaborate with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; 5+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing.
• At least 5 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP; JD Edwards experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Procure raw materials to meet forecasted demand and production schedules.
• Monitor open PO status to ensure on-time delivery and resolve issues.
• Expedite or defer orders based on schedule/inventory needs.
• Resolve PO to invoice discrepancies with quality teams.
• Maintain PO accuracy in JDE.
• Provide monthly forecasts to strategic suppliers.
• Develop strong supplier relationships and manage inventory targets.
• Review safety stock and replenishment parameters to optimize service levels.
• Collaborate with production, sourcing, supplier quality and engineering.
• Participate in cross-functional teams requiring purchasing support.
• Participate in root cause analysis for part shortages.

Supply Chain Buyer

Responsible for purchasing raw materials and managing inventory to support production requirements. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, along with experience using MRP/ERP systems to ensure material availability, optimize inventory levels, and maintain supplier performance in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Procure raw materials and other supplies from approved suppliers for the production of finished goods to meet forecasted demand and production schedules.
• Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of future potential risk.
• Using system and independent judgment to expedite or defer orders as required based on schedule/inventory changes.
• Manage and resolve issues regarding PO to invoice discrepancies, returns to supplier, including working with quality.
• Maintain PO accuracy in JDE
• Provide monthly forecasts to strategic suppliers and monitor and manage forecast accuracy
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers
• Responsible for managing inventory of assigned raw materials to defined targets
• Using system parameters and discretion review and update safety stock and replenishment parameters on an ongoing basis, per company guidelines, to ensure inventory and service levels are optimized
• Monitor and manage excess and obsolete inventory risk for assigned parts
• Communicate and collaborate with internal groups i.e. production scheduling, sourcing, supplier quality, and engineering to build and foster effective working relationships
• Participates in root cause and corrective action process for part shortagesParticipates in inventory reviews including safety stock and excess & obsolete inventory
• Serves on cross functional teams that require purchasing support, when needed

Required Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business or relevant field preferred
• At least 5 years of experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment in lieu of education
• Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems with JD Edwards experience preferred
