Job summary

Link-Belt Cranes in Lexington, Kentucky, designs and manufactures mobile cranes. The Buyer will generate POs, manage supplier communications, and coordinate with receiving to resolve discrepancies while monitoring inventory and schedule impact.

This role requires at least a high school diploma and 2+ years in scheduling or purchasing; a college degree is preferred. The position offers an on-site work environment with growth opportunities in procurement and materials management.

Qualifications

• High School or GED; College degree preferred.
• Two years minimum related experience in scheduling and/or purchasing.

Responsibilities

• Generate purchase orders from MRP or other demand.
• Balance purchase orders with inventory and demand to minimize inventory investment.
• Monitor open purchase orders to meet schedule requirements (cancel, defer, expedite).
• Work with receiving to resolve quantity, PO, or part number discrepancies.
• Coordinate data requests (certifications, tracking information) as required.
• Communicate with suppliers to obtain product information (price, availability, delivery).
• Maintain procurement records (items purchased, costs, delivery, quality, inventories).
• May expedite delivery of goods to users.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.

Essential functions of the position include:

• Generate purchase orders from material requirements planning (MRP) or other demand.
• Balance purchase orders with inventory conditions and demand requirements at all times to minimize inventory investment.
• Monitor open purchase orders to meet changing schedule requirements (cancel, defer, expedite, etc)
• Work with receiving department to resolve quantity, purchase order, or part number discrepancies
• Work with others to gather requested data, e.g. certifications, tracking information, etc. as required
• Communicate with suppliers to obtain product or service information, such as price, availability, and delivery
• Maintain procurement records, such as item or service purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories
• May expedite delivery of goods to users
• Other duties and projects as assigned
