Job summary

Link-Belt Cranes in Lexington, Kentucky, is seeking a Design Engineer to join the engineering team and design mechanisms, structures and controls for crane products. You will help meet goals of safety, quality, cost, delivery and environmental considerations.

Responsibilities include performing complex calculations, preparing drawings and BOMs, coordinating with suppliers, supporting prototyping and field service issue resolution, and aiding production during assembly and machining processes.

Qualifications

  • Four year college degree in engineering (mechanical or agricultural preferred).
  • Minimum of two years’ proven design experience in crane industry, or five years in heavy equipment industry, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and develop new cost-effective design concepts for crane products.
  • Prepare and check complex calculations for loads, speeds, deflections, stresses and tolerances.
  • Prepare detail and assembly drawings for accuracy and conformance to design policies.
  • Create layouts of new designs or revisions to existing designs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to obtain component information and establish specifications.
  • Prepare project time estimates and coordinate schedule attainment with product timeline.
  • Support prototype assembly, testing and manufacturing processes to resolve issues.
