Job summary

Bocar in Huntsville, AL is seeking an experienced Buyer to manage indirect purchasing in the automotive sector. You will handle RFIs/RFPs, negotiate with suppliers, and oversee SAP-driven purchasing workflows to optimize costs and supplier performance.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Maintenance, HR, Finance, Logistics and Engineering to support continuous improvement and ensure compliance with purchasing controls.

Qualifications

• Experience with supplier negotiations, sourcing and RFQ/RFP processes.
• Knowledge of SAP and purchasing processes.
• Strong analytical skills and experience working with large datasets.
• Understanding of costing, logistics, landed cost and supplier performance.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with suppliers in the U.S. and/or international markets is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing of indirect commodities, MRO materials, spare parts, PPE, chemicals, hardware, electrical supplies and services.
• Create and manage RFIs, RFQs and RFPs, including price comparisons and supplier negotiations.
• Identify new suppliers and sourcing opportunities in the U.S. and support alternative material initiatives.
• Analyze costs, market conditions, logistics and other commercial factors to identify savings opportunities.
• Manage supplier performance, onboarding, contracts and commercial requirements.
• Create and follow up on purchase requisitions and purchase orders through SAP.
• Work closely with Maintenance, HR, Finance, Logistics, Engineering and other internal stakeholders.
• Support audits, purchasing controls, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Analyze purchasing data and prepare reports and executive presentations.
