Job summary

Nucor is seeking a Buyer responsible for purchasing materials, products, and services. Responsibilities include processing requisitions and purchase orders, negotiating terms, and maintaining vendor relationships to drive cost savings while upholding safety standards across the enterprise.

Minimum qualifications include 2 years in purchasing or accounting in manufacturing and US work authorization. ERP/MRP experience is preferred for efficient supplier management.

Responsibilities

• Procure materials, products, and services for Nucor.
• Process requisitions and purchase orders.
• Negotiate and enforce contract terms and conditions with suppliers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors/contractors.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
• Maintain supplier compliance files and records.
• Coordinate with operating departments on cost savings and improved processes.
• Uphold safety policies and practices at all times.

Basic Job Functions:

The Buyer is responsible for Nucor’s purchasing of materials, products, and services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, processing requisitions/purchase orders, negotiating and enforcing Nucor’s commercial and legal contract terms and conditions, developing and maintaining relationships with key vendors/contractors, contributing to Nucor enterprise-wide purchasing efforts, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, maintaining supplier compliance files, and coordinating with operating departments on cost savings and improved processes. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience in the following disciplines: business law, contract management, internal controls, inventory management, negotiations, procurement, risk management, accounting, or warehouse.
• Demonstrated experience with ERP/MRP Systems (Oracle, MP2, etc.)
