Job summary

SPECTRAFORCE is seeking a purchasing professional to manage MRO and inventory purchasing for production scheduling. This role includes planning raw materials and hardware, using SAP MM/PP/FI/CO, and driving strategic sourcing projects.

You will mentor junior staff and ensure supplier performance to support manufacturing campaigns. The position emphasizes effective vendor management, cost control, and compliance with healthcare-related regulations.

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of experience in Materials (purchasing, planning, inventory and production control).
  • Certified Purchasing Manager or APICS Certification preferred.
  • Experience with cost/value analysis.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase a wide variety of items and services and verify authorizations.
  • Process paperwork and expedite as necessary.
  • Ensure best price, quality and delivery for all MRO purchases.
  • Maintain compliance with Approved Supplier List.
  • Generate purchase orders using the MRP system.
  • Complete all purchasing functions including expediting and returns.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relations and negotiate terms.
  • Plan, schedule, and track materials through system.
  • Maintain minimum stock levels and reorder points.
  • Interface with production, quality, and facilities to plan usage.

Purpose
  • This position will include purchasing responsibilities of MRO and Inventory purchasing, including the planning/scheduling of raw materials and hardware & consumables for inventory/campaign as required by production schedule.
  • In addition this individual will be responsible for strategic sourcing projects, able to work with little direct supervision and function in a leadership capacity by providing guidance to other employees.
Essential Functions
  • Purchase a wide variety of Items and Services, verify authorizations and account numbers.
  • Process associated paperwork and expedite as necessary.
  • Insure best price, quality and delivery for all MRO purchases.
  • Maintain compliance with Approved Supplier List in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Utilizing MRP system, generate purchase orders for all applicable inventory items.
  • Complete all purchasing functions, including expediting, returns to vendor, obtaining quotes and supplier sourcing.
  • Create and apply company standard contract templates
  • Develop and maintain good supplier relations.
  • Plan, schedule, track and expedite materials through system.
  • Maintain minimum stock levels for continuous operation by generating reorder list.
  • Understand and use bills of materials, job numbers, and routing stages used for media/buffer solutions production and component kits for material availability.
  • Maintain master materials plan in accordance with production schedule for manufacturing campaigns.
  • Interface with Production, Quality Control and Facilities to plan material usage.
  • Insure a smooth and effective flow of information to the Warehouse in order to maintain proper levels of inventory.
  • Provide Materials Orientation to new employees.
  • Oversee, direct and mentor more junior purchasing employees.
  • Drive Strategic Sourcing projects and initiatives to improve the Purchasing function in terms of cost, quality and efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a compliant and ethical manner and in accordance with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and industry codes.

Physical Requirements
  • The ability to climb. stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and walk.
  • The ability to pull, lift, finger, and grasp.
  • The ability to speak, listen, and understand verbal and written communication.
  • Repetition including substantial movement of wrists, hands, and or fingers.
  • While performing this job employee work involves sitting most of the time with walking and standing required only occasionally.
  • This position may lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Visual acuity to perform close activities such as: reading, writing, and analyzing; and to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
  • The working environment includes a variety of physical conditions, working in narrow aisles, and temperature changes.
Qualifications
Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience
Work Experience
  • Five (5) + years of experience in Materials (i.e. purchasing, planning, inventory and production control).
  • Certified Purchasing Manager or APICS Certification preferred.
  • Experience with fundamental cost/value analysis.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of cGMP’s, ISO and FDA requirements a plus.
  • Able to develop and manage action plans to achieve targets.
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to effectively interface with suppliers and knowledge of computerized inventory and MRP systems, word processing and spreadsheet/database software required.
