Job summary

NYC Department of Social Services (DSS) in Brooklyn, NY seeks a Business System Analyst for a 30-month contract. You will perform business analysis, design system solutions, and work within an Agile SCRUM framework with ITS staff to implement changes.

The role requires gathering requirements, developing specifications for new needs, and creating post-implementation documentation while ensuring security and data integrity across legacy systems.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience with data structures, data manipulation, databases, testing and implementation.
• Technical and user documentation, software conversion experience.
• Exposure to mainframe, midrange, PCs environments.
• Lead in design of program specifications and software solutions.
• Basic SQL/Oracle knowledge for data querying.
• Front and Backend processing of Web Applications.
• Experience with Business Analysis, SCRUM and Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop system design specifications and align with security requirements.
• Prepare documents for general design of solutions and alternatives.
• Gather requirements with stakeholders and perform gap analyses.
• Create structured workflows to meet business goals.
• Identify integration needs with legacy systems and propose improvements.
• Participate in SCRUM delivery and Agile development processes.
• Develop system documentation and post-implementation guides.
• Create management reports as required and collaborate with customers on new requirements.
• Plan system implementations and coordinate with ITS staff and product managers.
• Design reports, audit trails, and security mechanisms.
• Review incidents to identify impact and resolution strategies.
• Serve as SME on legacy systems and propose improved solutions.
• Develop test plans and perform testing with developers.
