Job summary

Augusta University is seeking a Business Systems Analyst 1 to serve as principal advisor and contact for student systems and applications. You will collaborate with analysts to learn application support procedures, develop test plans, and assist with releases and upgrades.

You will conduct research of technical issues, prepare specifications for modifications, and communicate with customers, staff and vendors with professional written and verbal skills.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Serve as principal advisor and point of contact to customers, vendors, and other IT areas of support for student systems and other applications as assigned. As a member of the Business Systems Analyst team, the incumbent will work closely with other analysts to learn Application Support procedures, and assist with the definition, development of test plans, and testing of system updates. Assists in coordinating software releases and upgrades. Conducts research of technical issues, development of specifications for modifications, enhancements, and database interventions. Incumbent will apply professional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills when writing and communicating with customers, other staff members, and vendors.

Responsibilities

• PRODUCTION SUPPORT : Provide end user application support through monitoring support tickets. Provide problem determination and resolution on technical issues; Consult with developers, database administrators and other IT resources as required to resolve issues. Participate in user group and vendor meetings. Provide technical expertise to resolve data issues. Serve as the primary liaison between ITS and the business units for all student systems.
• CHANGE MANAGEMENT : Utilize the AU Change Management System to record and manage user requests for enhancements, system modifications, and production support; Participate in routine change review meetings locally and the University System Office. Utilize designated tracking systems to monitor system changes compared to business processes with a goal of identifying improvements. Record all expended effort in the change management system or in the appropriate project tracking system.
• SYSTEM MODIFICATIONS, ENHANCEMENTS AND UPGRADES : Participate in the definition and design of application modifications; Create and maintain test plans, where necessary, in a way that, over time, complete system test plans are developed in a reusable format; Assist in monitoring release notification from application vendors and the University System Office; Provide documentation and analysis for pre-release and release notifications; Participate in testing and certifying software releases and upgrades by providing test plans for new features locally developed and special use cases. Act as the SIS liaison as end users certify releases.
• BUSINESS PROCESS REVIEW : Participate in and facilitate Business Process Review sessions with a goal of better utilization of systems and streamlining daily operations; Monitor systems in relation to customers business processes and provide tested suggestions for business process improvements or changes in system utilization to improve operations
• PROJECTS : Assist in compiling and developing functional specifications and defining use requirements, if not provided by a vendor; Participate as team lead when assigned; Follow project guidelines when participating in project assigned tasks; Monitor and maintain all project schedule tasks as assigned and participate in development of project plans by attending Work Breakdown Structure meetings; Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with project timelines and task target dates
• TEAM PARTICIPATION : Collaborate with other analysts with issues to gain knowledge of required student centered applications, standards, operations and capabilities; Make suggestions for improvements to team policies, processes and procedures in relation to system utilization and customer service. Participate in application specific training to support cross-training efforts and to develop a strong understanding of each assigned application maintained by other Analysts, as required.
• OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES : Perform all other related duties/task as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 2 years of experience in using a system running enterprise-wide business, research, and/or academic applications and providing technical expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

SQL or SQL Plus experience.

Experience supporting and implementing enterprise software applications such as Banner, SLATE, or D2L to production is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Technical understanding of relational databases and knowledge in how to read/write SQL Selects

Experience assisting users with troubleshooting information system applications

Knowledge of analysis, design techniques, documentation needs and techniques and data mapping techniques

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical, organizational, customer service, and time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet competing deadlines.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality, interpret and respond to user problems and conduct and evaluate systems testing

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band: B10

Salary: Minimum: $52,500.00/annually- Midpoint: $61,000.00/annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
