You will translate purchase, production, logistics, and finance processes into precise technical specs for the R&D team to implement, while leading user training and ongoing platform support.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in technical or solutions consulting roles, strong data/reporting skills, and experience authoring build-ready specifications.

  • Business analysis: Proven experience acting as the intermediary between business and technical teams, translating business needs into technical requirements.
  • Data & reporting: Able to build the operational reports the business needs. AI-assisted report building is expected; an understanding of SQL and of efficient query design is an asset.

  • Own requirements end to end: from business need, to build-ready specification, to hand-off , to adoption.
  • Lead training and onboarding for business users, and champion and support the platform on an ongoing basis.
  • Build and maintain operational reports that give the business clear visibility into its processes.
  • Work with our AI-assisted tooling - identifying where it can remove manual effort, and helping the business put it to use.

Job description

Location: New York/New Jersey metro - hybrid: 3 days/week on-site at our Manhattan office, 2 days remote. Occasional travel to warehouse and distribution-center sites.

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

Level: Intermediate to Senior

About the role:

We are seeking a business systems analyst to serve as the primary interface between our business and our development team. Working directly with teams across purchasing, production, logistics, operations, finance, and e-commerce, you will develop a thorough understanding of how the business operates and translate those processes into clear technical specifications that our R&D team can build from. You will lead user training and onboarding, champion and support the systems people work in every day, and carry business requirements back into the development roadmap.

Our platforms are modern, purpose-built and developed in-house, including AI-assisted capabilities that are being extended into the business - data interrogation today, with analysis and forecasting on the roadmap. Helping shape where those capabilities are applied, and bringing them to the people who will use them, is part of the role.

The role suits someone equally comfortable in an operations discussion, a technical design review, and in front of a room running a training session.

Note: this is a build-and-grow environment, not steady-state support of an off-the-shelf package. You will do well here if you are comfortable with evolving requirements and bringing structure to ambiguity.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the conduit between business users and the R&D team, gathering requirements and feeding them into the product roadmap.
  • Map business processes across the full supply chain - purchasing, production, overseas inbound shipping, domestic warehousing, and fulfillment - and translate them into detailed technical specifications (data flows, integration requirements, acceptance criteria) that developers can build from directly.
  • Support QA, testing, and the introduction of new features and system integrations.
Required qualifications:

A qualified candidate meets all of the following:

  • Experience: 5+ years overall in technical, solutions-consulting, or business-systems-analyst roles, including 3+ years authoring build-ready specifications.
  • Technical specifications: Able to independently author build-ready specifications (integrations/APIs, data models, database concepts).
  • Business analysis: Proven experience acting as the intermediary between business and technical teams, translating business needs into technical requirements.
  • Data & reporting: Able to build the operational reports the business needs. AI-assisted report building is expected; an understanding of SQL and of efficient query design is an asset.
  • Communication & training: Able to lead a training session for a room of business users and communicate technical concepts clearly to a business audience.
  • Education: Bachelor's in a technical, supply-chain, business, or related field - or equivalent, demonstrable experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Location & authorization: Based in the NY / NJ metro and commutable to Manhattan for a hybrid schedule (3 days/week on-site); authorized to work in the US.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in the apparel or branded consumer-products business - royalties, seasonal collections, color / size matrices, packs and assortments, and landed cost.
  • Hands-on exposure to a commercial ERP platform - apparel systems such as AMT or Blue Cherry, or a tier-1 platform such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite or Sage.
  • General supply-chain, logistics, WMS, 3PL, or e-commerce experience, including exposure to EDI, e-commerce platforms (e.g. Shopify), and carrier / shipping systems.
  • Practical experience applying AI tooling to business or analytical work.
  • QA / testing methodology exposure on system implementations and integrations.
