The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) partners with business and technology teams to translate business needs into clear, testable, and traceable solution requirements. The BSA supports solution design, validation, testing, and implementation activities to ensure delivered solutions meet business objectives and operational requirements. This role uses approved AI and automation tools to accelerate analysis and delivery while applying appropriate governance, security, and quality controls. The BSA works across waterfall, hybrid, Agile, and AI-assisted delivery environments.
KEY RESPONSIBLITES
Business Analysis & Requirements Management
- Gather, analyze, document, validate, and manage business, functional, technical, data, integration, security, reporting, and operational requirements.
- Facilitate stakeholder interviews, workshops, process reviews, and requirements sessions.
- Translate business needs into epics, user stories, functional specifications, business rules, process flows, data requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Define business scenarios, exceptions, dependencies, assumptions, constraints, and expected outcomes.
- Partner with developers and technical teams to identify impacts, gaps, risks, and solution feasibility.
- Maintain requirements traceability through design, testing, implementation, and post-production validation.
- Support backlog prioritization and delivery planning with business and project stakeholders.
Process Improvement & Solution Design
- Document current-state processes and design future-state workflows that improve efficiency, controls, quality, and user experience.
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, AI enablement, and data improvement.
- Evaluate solution alternatives and document business impacts, tradeoffs, risks, and dependencies.
- Participate in solution-design discussions to represent business processes, data, controls, and operational requirements.
- Develop prototypes, low-code solutions, or process automations when appropriate.
AI-Assisted Delivery
- Use approved AI tools to support requirements gathering, analysis, documentation, testing, and knowledge management.
- Review AI-generated outputs for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and business alignment.
- Resolve ambiguities, conflicting requirements, and documentation gaps.
- Maintain alignment between business objectives, requirements, acceptance criteria, testing, and delivered functionality.
- Adhere to company AI governance, security, privacy, records retention, and risk-management standards.
Data & Solution Validation
- Define data requirements, business rules, calculations, source systems, interfaces, and reporting needs.
- Partner with technical teams to establish data definitions, validation rules, and data quality expectations.
- Validate system functionality, calculations, integrations, reports, and outputs against approved requirements.
- Investigate issues, distinguish defects from requirement gaps, and support issue resolution.
- Ensure auditability, reporting, and downstream impacts are considered during solution design.
Testing, Delivery & Readiness
- Collaborate with business, development, QA, security, data, change management, and vendor teams throughout delivery.
- Define business validation strategies and ensure adequate test coverage.
- Support integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), defect triage, and production readiness reviews.
- Assist with implementation planning, stakeholder communications, training, and organizational change activities.
- Participate in post-implementation reviews to validate adoption and business outcomes.
- Use data and analysis to identify problems, root causes, trends, and improvement opportunities.
- Support KPI development, benefits tracking, and performance measurement.
- Contribute to business analysis standards, templates, reusable assets, and communities of practice.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of business analysis experience and 5 years of professional experience.
- Experience supporting software, data, process improvement, or technology-enabled business initiatives.
- Experience developing functional requirements, process models, business rules, acceptance criteria, and traceability documentation.
- Knowledge of SDLC methodologies, Agile practices, business process analysis, testing, and organizational change concepts.
- Experience working with developers, architects, QA teams, business stakeholders, and cross-functional delivery teams.
- Strong analytical, facilitation, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience using AI-enabled productivity or analysis tools and validating AI-generated outputs.
- Working knowledge of reporting, analytics, SQL, business intelligence, or related tools.
- Familiarity with backlog management, collaboration, modeling, and requirements tools.
- Commitment to data protection, digital security, AI governance, and quality standards.
Preferred
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, process mining, low-code platforms, automation solutions, or organizational change management.
- Professional certifications such as ECBA, CCBA, CBAP, PMI-PBA, CSPO, or similar credentials.
