Job summary

The State of South Dakota, Bureau of Information and Technology, is hiring a Business Relationship Manager in Pierre, Rapid City, Aberdeen or Sioux Falls to advocate for agency technology needs and translate business requirements into effective IT projects.

You will build collaborative relationships with agencies, maintain knowledge of structures and processes, guide RFP/RFI processes, and lead teams to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, business, communications or related field.
• Experience working in state government or other bureaucracies (preferred).
• Five or more years of professional work experience (preferred).

We are looking for a new Business Relationship Manager (BRM) with excellent customer service skills who excels in a fast-paced environment. The BRM serves as the primary liaison between state agencies and BIT, advocating for agency technology needs and helping deliver effective solutions.

Responsibilities Include

• Building collaborative relationships with assigned agencies and BIT teams.
• Maintaining deep knowledge of agency structures, processes, and technology requirements.
• Translating business needs into actionable technology projects and solutions.
• Communicating technical concepts in understandable terms to diverse stakeholders.

The BRM role combines strategic advocacy, operational coordination, and relationship management to deliver value and drive technology success for state agencies.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• a degree in computer science, business, communications or related field (preferred);
• experience working in state government or other bureaucracies (preferred);
• five or more years of professional work experience (preferred).
