Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services or business field from an accredited institution OR Associate’s degree with two years of directly related work experience; or high school/GED with four years of related work.
  • Experience helping others obtain employment and working with the public is favorable.

The position provides services to persons who have disabilities which prevent them from independently obtaining, maintaining, or retaining employment. The Community Employment Program Specialist/Business Relations Representative (BRR) works in partnership with Rehabilitation Counselors and Vocational Evaluators to determine suitable vocational options for individuals with disabilities and subsequently assist them in obtaining competitive employment within the community.The incumbent will also develop and maintain relationships with employers in a 5-county area. This includes Moore, Hoke, Montgomery, Richmond and Anson counties catchment area.Job responsibilities include the following:Assists in the placement of eligible consumers in compatible, and competitive employment that is consistent with their interests and abilities.Work closely with counselors to determine appropriate vocational goals for consumers and identify the availability of similar positions in the community.Teaching employment marketing classes to job-ready consumers.Teaching job retention classes.Provide written and verbal feedback to counselors regarding the progress of referred consumers’ efforts to obtain employment.Coordinate in-school work adjustment programs.Meet with local and regional employers to explain agency mission and goals and to obtain their agreement and commitment to hire vocational rehabilitation (VR) consumers.Participate in job fairs and other community events to promote the agency and its consumers as well as represent the work unit on boards and committees as designated by the Unit Manager and or Counselor in Charge.Be heavily involved in the planning and implementation of National Disability Employment Awareness events.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Range: $35,596 -$62,294Recruitment Range: $35,596 -$52,000Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred.• Knowledge or experience helping others obtain employment• Demonstrated experience working with the publicPosition is funded in part through federal funds.Posting closes at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end dateAbout Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD): The DHHS Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD) promotes employment and independence for people with disabilities through customer partnership and community leadership.
