We are looking for a business process reengineering and transformation lead who will leverage their expertise to provide hands-on support to teams across Morgan Stanley that are optimizing and transforming critical business processes.

This is a Lead Business Analysis position at the Vice President level, which is part of the job family responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying needs, and establishing requirements to enhance efficiency and productivity through a blend of business acumen and analytical skills.

This role will be a part of Process Optimization's Design Thinking and Reengineering Practice and report to the Practice Head. The practice serves as an internal consultancy, working with teams Firmwide to rapidly identify, ideate, test and build solutions that improve processes, drive new programs and improve efficiency. Process Optimization sits within Technology and leverages emerging technology, automation tools and process improvement approaches to enable changes in the way the Firm works, reduce manual processes and drive optimization Firmwide.

Process Re-engineering

What you'll do in the role:

  • Lead engagements and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, analyze, and re-engineer core business processes
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of current-state processes (As-Is) and identify areas for optimization using a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches
  • Design future-state processes (To-Be) that align with business objectives, leveraging best practices and innovative technologies
  • Create detailed process maps, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to document redesigned processes

Service Design

  • Apply service design methodologies to enhance service experiences across various touchpoints
  • Conduct user research to understand customer needs, pain points, and expectations
  • Develop service blueprints, customer journey maps, and service prototypes to visualize and design service solutions
  • Identify opportunities to improve service efficiency, effectiveness, and user satisfaction.

Collaboration And Stakeholder Management

  • Work closely with stakeholders at all levels to gather requirements, facilitate design workshops, and ensure alignment
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project progress effectively

Presentation And Communication

  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations to communicate process and service design concepts, recommendations, and project outcomes
  • Create clear, concise, and visually engaging documentation, including process flows, service blueprints, and reports that drive action across different audiences (e.g. process producers, process consumers, senior leadership)

Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor the performance of redesigned processes and services, identifying areas for further optimization
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in process design, service design, and related fields
  • Contribute to the development of our re-engineering methodology

What You’ll Bring To The Role

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in process design, business process re-engineering, or service design roles
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing successful process and service improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of process design methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, BPM) and service design principles
  • Proficiency in process mapping and service design tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Signavio, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong project management experience
  • Impeccable verbal and written presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively to various audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong project leadership experiences with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Experience with change management principles and practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $139,000 and $185,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
