Job summary

LUMA Energy is seeking an experienced HR professional to align HR strategies with business objectives and partner with leaders to implement effective HR solutions in Puerto Rico.

The role focuses on employee relations, performance management, compliance with employment laws, and building a productive, engaged workplace. Candidates should be fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with 5–7 years of HR experience and a track record in complex employee relations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field from an accredited university.
  • 5-7 years of professional HR experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years managing complex employee relations issues, including internal investigations and documentation.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with business leaders to understand strategic objectives and develop HR strategies that drive organizational outcomes.
  • Provides guidance and interpretation for managers and employees on employment laws, health and safety regulations, company policies, and HR best practices to ensure compliance and consistent employee management.
  • Supports management and employees by improving work relationships, building morale, and strengthening retention to foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Aligns workforce planning, talent management, and organizational design to meet business needs effectively.
  • Identifies development needs and collaborates with Learning and Development to deliver impactful training programs.
  • Addresses employee relations issues, conducts investigations, and ensures fair and consistent application of policies.
  • Coaches managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes for union and non‑union environments.
  • Analyzes HR data and prepares reports to provide insights that guide decision-making and support continuous improvement.
  • Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.
  • Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.
  • Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration or related field from an accredited university
Experience
  • 5-7 years of professional and progressive human resources related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years in managing complex employee relations issues, including internal investigations and documentation.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Analytical and strong negotiating skills.
  • Strong interpersonal relations and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Fully Bilingual (English & Spanish)
Travel Requirements
  • 50% Approximately
