Job summary

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of Forensic Sciences, Forensic Laboratories, is seeking a Business Operations Specialist to provide liaison, administrative, and financial support for a forensic laboratory.

Applicants for the GS-12 must meet qualification requirements by the closing date, including one year of specialized experience at GS-11 or equivalent, plus experience reviewing policies, conducting contracting transactions, assisting budgeting, and advising on change

Job description

This position is located in the DEA, Office of Forensic Sciences, Forensic Laboratories. This position(s) primary purpose is to serve as the Business Operations Specialist to provide liaison, administrative, and financial support for a forensic laboratory.

Applicants applying for the GS-12 must meet one of the following requirements:

• Have at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-11 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
• Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following:
  1. Reviewing and evaluating office policies and other guidance to determine need to develop new policies or modify existing policies and guidance.
  2. Performing all aspects of contracting transactions for procurements that include a wide array of complex professional and technical services or products.
  3. Assisting in the formulation, establishment, and monitoring of fiscal year budgets, plans, and cost estimates for the laboratory.
  4. Advising and assisting laboratory leadership on change management.
