Job summary

Boise State University is seeking an Entry-level Business Operations Coordinator to ensure efficient day-to-day department operations. You will assist with project development, internal processes, and support staff through liaison with HR, research support, financials, and communications.

As the role grows, you’ll attend monthly meetings, support the director in coordination across school initiatives, and help implement operational improvements and new technologies to improve workflows.

Job Summary/Basic Function:

This position manages day-to-day activities to ensure the department is running efficiently and meets the expectations and needs of customers and staff. Assists with the management/administrative aspects and has operational control of a range of projects. May work on assignments related to project development and management initiatives, internal operating procedures, business processes and policies.

The School for the Digital Future (SDF) is Boise State University’s interdisciplinary hub for preparing students, faculty, and communities to navigate an increasingly digital and AI-shaped world. Our mission is to advance human-centered digital innovation by preparing students for the future, building workforce and community partnerships, and supporting research that helps shape the digital future. Located within the College of Arts and Sciences, SDF brings together innovative academic programs, interdisciplinary research, and external partnerships. Level Scope:

Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.

Essential Functions:

60% of Time the Business Operations Coordinator will:

  • Responsible for various processes and liaison with other units such as Human Resources, research support, financials, data management and communication
  • Directs customer service and support functions. Assists in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans. May lead efforts to recruit new employees with the goal of attracting and retaining qualified individuals. Manages quality assurance programs.
  • Serves as liaison to other team members, including interacting with managers of different areas of the organization, presenting findings to stakeholders and higher management as well as training and supervising new employees and tracking and measuring staff performance.

35% of Time the Business Operations Coordinator will:

  • Supports the Director by managing appropriated and local accounts in the school, including any interactions with the Boise State Foundation
  • Attends monthly school meetings to support the director in coordination efforts across school initiatives
  • Meets with the Director weekly to support school needs with communication, events, calendaring, etc.
  • Proactively suggests operational improvements and efficiencies; willing to learn and adapt to new technologies for improved workflows

5% of Time the Business Operations Coordinator must:

MinimumQualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a higher education or university environment.
  • Familiarity with Boise State University administrative systems, policies, procedures, and business processes.
  • Experience supporting financial and business operations, including budget tracking, purchasing, account management, or related administrative processes.
  • Experience coordinating projects, meetings, events, communications, and/or administrative workflows involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively use new technologies and administrative systems to improve workflows and operational efficiency.
Salary and Benefits:

Salary is $50,065.60 annually. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):

  • 12 paid holidays AND the University is closed between Christmas and New Year's (requires use of 3 vacation days)
  • Between 12-24 annual paid vacation days for full-time Professional and Classified staff depending on position type and years of service
  • 10.76% University contribution to your ORP retirement fund (Professional and Faculty employees)
  • 11.96% University contribution to your PERSI retirement fund (Classified employees)
