East Carolina University is seeking a Business Librarian to enhance library services for its College of Business. The role involves developing instructional materials and providing research assistance to students and faculty. An emphasis will be placed on fostering professional development and integrating library resources into academic programs within a supportive environment.

Organizational Unit Overview
Academic Library Services ( ALS ) is a branch of Academic Affairs and reports through the Provost/ Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs. ALS serves East Carolina University faculty, students, staff and visitors by offering library research and services to support the research, instruction and service goals of the University.The Research and Instructional Services ( RIS ) department supports faculty research and student learning at all levels and operates a service desk to assist students. RIS delivers course-integrated library instruction sessions and one-on-one research consultations, coordinates the administration of library research guides and FAQs, embeds tutorials into faculty course management systems including Canvas, provides library orientation tours, and makes regular decisions to optimize the space and technology for student academic production throughout the first floor of Joyner Library. Organizationally, RIS is in the ALS Public Services division, which is composed of frontline departments such as Circulation, Interlibrary Loan, the Music Library, and the Teaching Resources Center.
Job Duties
East Carolina University’s ( ECU ) Academic Library Services ( ALS ) seeks a Business Librarian to provide specialized library service to the students and faculty of the College of Business ( COB ) including five departments and the Miller School of Entrepreneurship, School of Hospitality Leadership, and Thomas D. Arthur Graduate School. This person will develop library instructional materials that support the curriculum, including the creation and maintenance of library research guides, and assist students, faculty, and other members of the ECU community through research consultations, library instruction sessions, and regularly scheduled research desk shifts. The person in this position manages a collection development budget for the programs and departments within COB ; participates in accreditation visits and reports; manages an active outreach program to COB faculty; and works closely with faculty within the college to develop and assess the library’s collections and services and to integrate library resources into teaching and learning. This person will demonstrate continued professional development and engagement with the business librarian community of practice. They will engage in library, university and professional service and may participate in research/creative activities.
To support positive work-life balance, in accordance with university’s Flexible Work Arrangements regulation, a hybrid and flexible work schedule for this position may be available after a training period.
This is a 12 month, fixed-term permanent position. Contingent upon availability of funds.
