Job description

The Insights Analyst is responsible for supporting internal Assurant business partners with insightful, analytical findings, as well as advancing the overall Data Analytics organizational strategies. This role will work with Insights Analytics team members to learn analytical techniques and improve tools used by the team. The analyst will present findings to the business and must be comfortable communicating with all levels of the organization.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

(60%) Create Value Through Data

1. Produce clear, insightful, understandable work products (visualizations, reports, presentations, etc.) to outline business opportunities and actionable recommendations
2. Transform data into insights by leveraging internal and external tools to identify and quantify opportunities
3. Build studies that add substantial value to the decision-making process through proactive data analysis, reporting, and research
4. Analyze existing solutions and optimize them based on the latest best practices, tools, techniques, and policies
5. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements, execute fast, and ensure the right training and hand-over effort to the stakeholders

(20%) Communicate Insights

1. Present analysis and resulting recommendations to senior management and/or clients
2. Leverage data to present compelling business cases to optimize investments and operations
3. Communicate and educate both technical and non-technical employees on analytics and data-driven decision making

(15%) Support Data Strategies

1. Design, build, and deliver on our Data as a Product initiatives across the enterprise
2. Participate and drive data modeling and governance best practices
3. Provide rapid corrective response and action to resolve disruptive incidents

(5%) Project Management

1. Lead projects and assist in the development of project plans, conducting analysis/modeling, hypothesis testing, presenting complex information for various audiences in simplified terms, and identifying next steps and future opportunity
2. Mentors team members in technical proficiency, code reviews, and business acumen
3. Collaborates with team members to prioritize requests requiring multiple resources for thorough project completion within stated timelines

What are the requirements for this position?

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Analytics, Business, Economics, Accounting or a related field
2. Broad knowledge of visualization techniques
3. Knowledge in visual storytelling with data, designing highly automated descriptive analytics/reporting solutions, querying databases, and creating data models
4. Knowledge of Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, and SQL
5. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels in the organization
