Derflan is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to join our consulting team, supporting data-driven initiatives for a global technology leader. This full-time, on-site consulting role is ideal for someone who excels in transforming raw data into meaningful insights, building scalable reporting solutions, and collaborating cross-functionally to improve customer and product experiences.

Job Title: Business Intelligence Engineer (Consultant Role)

Location: Seattle, WA (On-site, Monday through Friday)

Annual Base Salary: $105,000 to $120,000

Contract Duration: 3 to 6 months with potential for extension

This role is based in the Seattle office and requires on-site presence five days a week. Candidates must already reside in the Seattle area to be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain dashboards, reports, and scalable data visualizations to drive insights across business functions

• Translate ambiguous business questions into concrete data solutions, hypotheses, or reporting layers

• Develop and automate recurring metrics, reports, and data tables using SQL, Python, and cloud-based tools

• Collaborate with stakeholders including Product Managers, Software Engineers, and Analysts to define data requirements and KPIs

• Conduct deep-dive analyses to investigate trends, customer behaviors, or anomalies

• Support self-service analytics by building data models and writing well-documented, reusable queries

• Audit and improve existing reporting pipelines, dashboards, and ETL jobs for accuracy, speed, and usability

Required Qualifications

• 3 or more years of experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, or a similar data-focused role

• Advanced SQL skills with experience writing and optimizing complex queries

• Experience building dashboards and visualizations using Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or QuickSight

• Familiarity with data modeling concepts and building ETL or ELT pipelines

• Ability to work closely with business stakeholders to define and deliver actionable insights

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or Business Analytics

• Experience working with AWS tools such as Redshift, S3, Athena, or Glue

• Hands-on scripting in Python or R for data processing or exploratory analysis

• Prior experience in e-commerce, consumer tech, or customer behavior analytics

• Exposure to statistical testing, segmentation, or marketing attribution models
