Job summary

Celestial Innovative Solutions LLC is hiring a BI Developer to build and maintain reports and dashboards for the Maryland State Police, using Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep, and Tableau Server to align with agency requirements.

You will gather requirements, model data, and document solutions while delivering data visualizations and dashboards and reporting status to MSP. Strong SQL, ETL, data warehousing, and after-hours support are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field or three years of equivalent experience in BI.
• Minimum 3 years as a BI Developer with strong SQL, data modeling and ETL.
• Experience with data warehouse concepts and BI tools (Tableau).

Responsibilities

Job description

Description

The candidate will develop and maintain reports and dashboards for the Maryland State Police utilizing tools such as Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep. They will follow MDSP's standard operating procedures.

Duties:

• Gather requirements for reporting.
• Follow the agency Center of Excellence procedures for projects.
• Develop and maintain data models consistent with agency requirements and needs.
• Develop and maintain data visualizations and dashboards.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation of developed solutions and instructional procedures.
• Attendance at MSP ITO meetings (as required).
• Regular status reporting of assigned tasks to MSP supervisor.
• After-hours support (as required).

Other duties as assigned.

Education:

This position requires a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or related field. (Three (3) years of equivalent experience in a related field may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree).

General Experience:

The proposed candidate must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a BI Developer.

Specialized Experience:

The candidate should have experience as a BI developer or similar role with a strong understanding of data modeling and ETL processes. The candidate should be proficient in SQL and experience with BI tools/software. They should possess a strong understanding of data warehouse, data lakehouse, and data mart concepts.

• At least one (1) year of experience, creating SQL queries
• At least one ( l) year of experience with Tableau Desktop
• At least one (I) year of experience using Tableau Server
• At least one (I) year of experience using Tableau Prep

Preferred:

• Knowledge of Python (programming language)
