AstraZeneca plc is seeking an Associate Director in Forward Deployed Decision Science to work side-by-side with commercial leaders. You will shape business challenges into analytical and AI-enabled solutions, delivering clear, practical insights that drive decisions.

The role focuses on translating needs into analytics, leading AI-native workflows, and leveraging cloud platforms to enable scalable, trustworthy decision support across sales, marketing, and operations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Engineering, Economics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
• 4+ years applying decision science, data science, analytics, or quantitative methods to business problems.
• Track record of analytics in commercial environments (sales effectiveness, marketing, ops).
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, AWS, Snowflake, Azure or similar cloud platforms.
• Experience with AI-native workflows, agents, or human-agent orchestration.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; knowledge of ML, modeling, validation.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business units to understand needs and priorities.
• Translate business questions into data science solutions and AI-enabled approaches.
• Develop ML and analytics to solve commercial problems and link to outcomes.
• Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Design and orchestrate AI agents and agentic workflows for faster decision-making.
• Use cloud platforms as the foundation for scalable analytics.
• Operate independently and introduce new ideas to strengthen the team.
• Apply statistical judgment and ensure outputs comply with data privacy and governance standards.
