Job summary

Blue River PetCare is seeking a Business Development Specialist for the Midwest to identify, qualify, and build relationships with prospective acquisition targets in the veterinary market.

This role requires heavy travel (75%), outbound outreach, and collaboration with practice owners to drive acquisition opportunities; remote work is available unless you are within 40 miles of the Chicago corporate office.

Qualifications

Job description

This team member must be located in the Midwest and willing/able to travel 75% via car/plane.

Our Business Development Specialists are tasked with identifying, qualifying, and building meaningful relationships with potential acquisition target hospitals for Blue River PetCare.The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for initiating 150+ unique outbound communications per week (cold calling, emailing, social media, etc.) to potential targets within assigned territory, with secondary objective of 80+ unique in person meetings per year with selling owners.This team member travels extensively within their region and to national veterinary conferences averaging 2-3 trips per month. The Business Development Specialist must be a motivated self-starter capable of utilizing existing leads and procuring new business leads. This position is remote (unless located within 40 miles of Chicago corporate office).

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with practice owners in assigned region
  • Advocate for company as most user-friendly acquisition company in veterinary market
  • Regularly update Salesforce with notes and lead activity logs
  • Obtain practice financial performance data and liaise during business evaluation process
  • Directly involved in signing and acquisition of target hospitals with yearly goals set by management
Requirements
  • 5+ years veterinary industry experience required; preferred veterinary clinic or industry sales representative
  • Must be disciplined, ability to initiate outbound calls, emails, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel by any means required (auto, air, train, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand business financials (tax returns, profit & loss statements)
  • Must be highly motivated self-starter
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a timely manner
Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000-105,000 per year.

In addition to base compensation, this position is eligiblefor the following additional compensation: annual discretionary bonus.

The range displayed above reflects the minimum and maximum compensation the Company reasonably and in good faith expects to offer for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, education, certifications, internal equity, geographic location, and business needs.
