What you'll do

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Business Development Solutions Architect to join our Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Business Area. We deliver complex turnkey satellite ground stations to US Government end users, integrating cutting-edge technologies in antennas, modems, encryption, cybersecurity, and related areas. As a Solution Architect, you will develop and maintain customer relationships with key Prime and Government accounts, leading business development activities from shaping emerging opportunities to capturing and maintaining franchise programs. You will lead teams of solution professionals and technical experts to develop integrated, cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements and enhance Viasat’s competitive edge. Knowledge of government agencies within the Intelligence Community (IC) is essential.

The day-to-day
  1. Conduct a broad range of business development activities, including market development, opportunity qualification, customer relationship management, decision mapping, competitive intelligence, customer analysis, message and strategy development, and preparing responses to RFI and RFPs.
  2. Lead technical solution development for active pursuits, participate in cost analysis, and ensure proposals align with business cases and customer needs.
  3. Present integrated solutions and costing to senior leaders, identifying and mitigating risks.
  4. Maintain customer intimacy by monitoring program performance and ensuring alignment of new pursuits with ongoing activities.
  5. Support ISR BA operations as a senior technical leader, contributing to strategy, IRAD prioritization, and solving complex system issues.
  6. Build relationships with other Solution Architects to support joint pursuits and system-of-systems offerings.
What you'll need
  • Strong systems engineering skills in RF communications, antennas, modems, waveforms, and DoD Risk Management Framework.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-related field and 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to quickly understand and communicate technology concepts and their value to customers.
  • Passion for customer relationships and proven productivity in business development practices.
  • Experience working across organizational boundaries, leading customer meetings, and developing solutions with cross-discipline teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing environments.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, written, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret clearance with SCI access.
  • Willingness to travel 25-50% and work out of Duluth, GA.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience developing satellite ground station solutions for government end users.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate inputs and synthesize technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of DoD Space & Counterspace acquisition landscape.
  • Established network within the IC industry, including government, OEMs, and businesses.

Salary range

Base salary ranges from $135,000 to $213,500 annually. For specific locations like San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and New York City, the range is $168,000 to $252,000 annually.
