Job description

Help leaders and organizations turn intention into meaningful change. Leadership Resources is seeking a Business Development Representative who can build trusted executive relationships, create new business opportunities, and guide prospective clients through a thoughtful, consultative sales process. This is a growth role for someone who is energized by prospecting, curious about how organizations work, and confident engaging senior leaders around complex business and leadership challenges.

The Opportunity

You will play an integral role in the continued growth of Leadership Resources by developing new client relationships and expanding opportunities with existing clients. Our work spans leadership development, executive coaching, strategic planning and execution, succession planning, team effectiveness, and related solutions designed to help organizations create intentional change.

This is not a transactional sales role. Success requires earning credibility, asking strong questions, diagnosing business needs, connecting those needs to the right solution, and maintaining ownership of the sales process from initial outreach through close and handoff.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and manage a healthy pipeline of qualified prospective clients through disciplined prospecting, referrals, networking, strategic relationships, and coordinated marketing efforts.
  • Lead qualification and discovery conversations that uncover a prospect’s desired future state, current strengths, challenges, decision process, business impact, urgency, and readiness to act.
  • Engage CEOs, executives, business owners, and other senior decision makers with confidence and credibility.
  • Translate complex organizational and leadership challenges into clear, value based recommendations using Leadership Resources solutions.
  • Own opportunities through the full business development process, including qualification, discovery, validation, proposal, follow up, negotiation, close, and effective transition to the delivery team.
  • Develop and grow relationships with current clients by identifying additional ways Leadership Resources can create value.
  • Maintain accurate, current CRM activity, pipeline stages, next steps, forecasting, and sales performance data.
  • Use sales metrics and market insight to evaluate performance, identify trends, and continually improve sales effectiveness.
  • Partner closely with marketing, coaches, facilitators, and leadership to align business development activity with the company’s growth strategy.
  • Actively participate in Leadership Resources’ operating rhythm, including weekly WAM meetings, quarterly priorities, pipeline reviews, and accountability conversations.
What Success Looks Like

Early ramp: Learn the Leadership Resources brand, core values, solutions, ideal client profile, sales playbook, CRM, and operating rhythm; develop an initial prospect list of at least 100 contacts; and observe a minimum of six discovery conversations.

By six months: Operate independently within the sales process, consistently generate qualified opportunities, and build toward the established activity and production expectations. The current Talent Profile targets approximately five qualification meetings and three discovery meetings per week, one proposal per week, and three wins per month by the end of the ramp period.

Long term: Build a durable book of business and a self sustaining pipeline that contributes materially to Leadership Resources’ contracted revenue growth, including the development of meaningful strategic or “Blue Chip” client relationships.

What You Bring
  • A demonstrated record of exceeding sales goals, developing client relationships, and closing meaningful business.
  • Experience selling complex, consultative, or professional services where the solution must be tailored to the client’s business needs.
  • Success engaging and selling to C suite and senior executive decision makers while maintaining appropriate control of the sales process.
  • Strong prospecting, discovery, presentation, negotiation, follow up, and closing skills.
  • The ability to analyze sales data and activity metrics, make informed decisions, and adjust your approach based on results.
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to make complex ideas clear and relevant.
  • High personal accountability, strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a consistent drive for results.
  • Coachability, curiosity, and a growth mindset.
How You’ll Fit at Leadership Resources

We are looking for someone who is kind, approachable, curious, accountable, and committed to continuous development. You should be comfortable receiving feedback, contributing to a team, and leveraging the strengths of others rather than operating as a lone wolf. Most importantly, you should care about the impact our work has on leaders, teams, organizations, and the people they serve.

We are the catalyst for intentional change.

Why Leadership Resources
  • Play a meaningful role in a high growth opportunity and directly influence the organization’s future.
  • Earn financial rewards tied to your performance and the value you create.
  • Work in a culture centered on leadership, accountability, learning, and continuous development.
  • Learn from and work directly with experienced executives, leadership coaches, facilitators, and business leaders.
  • Build a career path with room to grow as business development becomes an increasingly important capability within Leadership Resources.
  • See the direct impact of your work as clients become stronger leaders and healthier, more effective organizations.
Preferred Background

Experience in leadership development, management consulting, executive coaching, organizational development, human capital, professional services, or another complex B2B advisory environment is preferred. We value demonstrated performance and the ability to build executive trust more than a specific industry pedigree.
