Job description

Help us change how small businesses work.

Small businesses run on an enormous amount of unnecessary work.

Information gets scattered across spreadsheets, email, documents, disconnected software, and people's heads. Employees spend hours copying information between systems, following up manually, searching for things, and working around software that was never designed for the way their business actually operates.

We're building OnePlace to change that.

OnePlace is a new kind of software platform for small businesses. Instead of forcing a company to stitch together a dozen generic tools and adapt its processes around them, we're building a platform that enables us to create software around how each business uniquely works—at scale.

We think this could become much bigger than another SaaS product. If we succeed, OnePlace could fundamentally change how millions of people interact with software at work.

We're early—and we're looking for an unusually sharp, ambitious person to help us bring it to market.

The role

You’ll spend a significant portion of your time prospecting and cold calling small business owners, starting conversations, uncovering real business problems, and creating qualified opportunities.

This role requires both execution and thought. You’ll make a lot of calls. You’ll hear “no” a lot. You’ll also be expected to notice patterns, test ideas, learn quickly, and help turn what works into a repeatable sales process.

We believe great salespeople shouldn’t have to manufacture enthusiasm for the product they’re selling. OnePlace is being built to solve real problems for small businesses and help them work—and live—better. We want you to understand and believe in the product deeply enough to recognize where we can genuinely create value.

Because we’re early, you’ll also help us figure out how OnePlace goes to market. You’ll work directly with the founder to test which businesses we target, which problems resonate, how we position OnePlace, what messaging gets attention, and what turns a cold conversation into a real opportunity.

You’ll be expected to execute aggressively and think critically about what you’re executing.

Your work will include:

  • Prospecting into small and midsize businesses, especially by phone, and possibly in person—you're willing to roll up your sleeves and pursue whatever channel is most effective
  • Starting conversations with owners and other decision-makers
  • Qualifying opportunities and scheduling meetings with the founder
  • Learning enough about a prospect’s business to recognize meaningful workflow problems
  • Experimenting with messaging, targeting, outreach strategies, and sales approaches
  • Following up relentlessly without becoming annoying or transactional
  • Keeping excellent records of prospects, conversations, objections, and outcomes
  • Looking for patterns in what the market is telling us
  • Helping turn those patterns into a sales process that future OnePlace BDRs can follow

As the company grows, the role can grow with it. We aren’t going to promise you a predetermined title two years from now. We can promise that someone who joins this early, produces exceptional results, and demonstrates exceptional judgment will have opportunities that don’t normally exist in an entry-level sales job.

Who we’re looking for

You likely graduated from college within the last few years . You may have majored in Business, Finance, or even something interesting and a bit weird.

A Bachelor's degree is required for this position.

Sales experience is not required, and professional sales training will be provided.

We’re much more interested in your raw ability, curiosity, drive, persistence, communication skills, and rate of learning than whether you’ve already been a BDR.

You are a great fit if you:
  • Are unusually quick to understand new ideas and connect dots
  • Do not go into a crippling depression when you hear “no.”
  • Are intensely curious about businesses and how they work
  • Communicate naturally and confidently with different kinds of people
  • Are competitive and highly motivated by results
  • Are persuasive without being manipulative or sleazy
  • Have high personal integrity
  • Take initiative instead of waiting for someone to specify every next step
  • Enjoy experimenting, measuring what happens, and changing your approach
  • Want substantial responsibility early in your career
  • Would rather help create a playbook than spend years following somebody else’s
What this isn’t

This isn’t a highly structured corporate sales program where every process has already been figured out.

We’re an early-stage company. Some things will change quickly. Some experiments will work, and others may not. You’ll sometimes have incomplete information. Part of your job is helping us figure out what works.

If that sounds stressful rather than exciting, this probably won’t be the right environment.

If the idea of getting in early, working directly with the founder, learning rapidly, helping shape a company’s go-to-market strategy, and being rewarded substantially when you produce results sounds exciting, we want to hear from you.

Compensation

Base salary: $40,000

You’ll also receive uncapped performance compensation based primarily on qualified opportunities you generate and customers resulting from your outbound efforts.

We expect successful first-year total compensation to be approximately $75,000–$80,000, with the ability to earn more for exceptional performance.

There is no arbitrary ceiling on earnings. If you become extraordinarily good at generating valuable business for OnePlace, we believe you should participate meaningfully in the value you create.

What you’ll get
  • Direct access to and mentorship from the founder
  • Professional sales training paid for by OnePlace
  • Significant influence over an early-stage company’s sales process
  • Uncapped performance-based earning potential
  • An environment where intelligence, experimentation, initiative, and results matter more than tenure
  • The possibility of significant career growth as OnePlace grows
Location and schedule

This is a full-time, in‑person position in Austin, Texas.

You’ll work closely with the founder and other early team members. Expect a standard Monday–Friday workweek, either 8–5 or 9–6.

This is not a remote position.
