Job description

OakTruss Group is seeking a Business Development Partner to drive new business across enterprise and mid-market accounts by helping organizations identify, understand, and address complex business risk.

This role is focused on building relationships with senior executives and helping clients evaluate risks that can affect business performance, resilience, regulatory exposure, reputation, and strategic growth. Solutions may include cybersecurity risk advisory, responsible AI adoption and governance, vCISO programs, governance, risk and compliance (GRC), security and technology assessments, penetration testing, and strategic program development.

This is a high-performance sales role for a proven professional who understands how to connect risk-related challenges to business outcomes and can consistently deliver $5M–$10M in annual revenue, maintain a strong pipeline, and close complex advisory engagements.

What You’ll Do

Drive Business Risk Advisory Growth

  • Identify and develop new opportunities with organizations facing complex business, operational, technology, regulatory, cybersecurity, and emerging AI risks.
  • Consistently meet or exceed annual revenue goals of $5M–$10M.
  • Build and maintain a qualified pipeline valued at approximately 3–5x annual quota.
  • Lead opportunities from initial prospecting and discovery through solution development, proposal, negotiation, and close.
  • Work closely with Client Delivery teams to translate client risk concerns into practical advisory engagements and Statements of Work.
  • Build trusted relationships with C-suite executives and senior leaders, including CEOs, CFOs, CAIOs, CROs, and CIOs.
  • Lead consultative discovery conversations focused on understanding business priorities, risk exposure, regulatory requirements, operational concerns, and strategic objectives.
  • Help clients understand how cybersecurity, AI, governance, compliance, and technology risks can affect broader business outcomes.
  • Position OakTruss Group as a strategic advisor rather than simply a provider of individual technical services.
  • Partner with Client Delivery to develop tailored proposals, SOWs, and executive-level presentations that clearly articulate business value and risk reduction.

Connect Risk to Business Outcomes

The successful candidate will be able to move beyond technical conversations and help executives answer questions such as:

  • Where does the organization have meaningful business risk exposure?
  • Which risks require immediate attention, and which can be accepted or managed over time?
  • How could cybersecurity or technology weaknesses affect operations, revenue, reputation, or regulatory obligations?
  • How should the organization govern the adoption and use of artificial intelligence?
  • Where are governance and compliance gaps creating unnecessary business exposure?
  • What investments will meaningfully reduce risk while supporting the organization’s strategic goals?

Collaborate Across the Business

  • Partner with Client Delivery and Marketing teams to develop go-to-market strategies and client solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with subject-matter experts to ensure proposed engagements address the client’s actual business and risk objectives.
  • Coordinate effective handoffs to delivery teams to support successful project outcomes and long-term client relationships.
  • Maintain accurate sales activity, pipeline information, opportunity status, and forecasts within the company’s CRM.
  • Stay current on emerging business risk, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data, governance, and regulatory trends.
  • Maintain working knowledge of risk and compliance frameworks including NIST, ISO, CIS, SOC 2, and OWASP.
  • Use market developments and changing risk environments to create meaningful conversations with current and prospective clients.
  • Represent OakTruss Group at industry conferences, executive events, and networking opportunities.

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of B2B sales experience, including at least 5 years in business risk mitigation, governance, AI, cybersecurity advisory, or professional services.
  • Demonstrated success achieving or exceeding $5M–$10M annual revenue targets.
  • Track record of closing multi-six-figure and seven-figure advisory engagements.
  • Experience engaging executives around business risk, governance, cybersecurity, technology, compliance, or other complex advisory matters.
  • Ability to translate technical or regulatory issues into clear business impact and executive-level risk conversations.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, AI and cybersecurity programs, and relevant compliance frameworks.
  • Experience using consultative or solution-based sales methodologies.
  • Strong executive communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
  • High degree of self-motivation, accountability, and pipeline management discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling business risk, cybersecurity, governance, technology risk, management consulting, or similar advisory services.
  • Advanced degree.
  • Relevant risk, AI, cybersecurity, governance, or compliance certifications.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
