About the role

OMA New York is looking for a business development professional to support and help drive our business development efforts in the Americas and Japan from our New York office.

In this role you will respond to both public procurement bids and private project enquiries; conduct research into new markets and opportunities; and maintain a database of business development materials.

You will write, prepare, lay out and produce qualifications packages, proposals, presentation materials, competition entries and marketing collateral, working closely with the partners in our New York office to evaluate and pursue new potential projects.

We are open to candidates at different stages of their career.

The title, level and scope of the role will be calibrated to the experience and strengths of the person we hire.

Key responsibilities
Core to the role at every level:
  • conduct research and assist in the assessment of potential new projects
  • prepare RFIs, RFQs, RFPs and fee proposals
  • maintain a continuous overview of potential projects and efforts
  • organize, maintain and update a comprehensive database of past proposals, project information sheets, CVs, portfolios, presentations and other marketing collateral
  • prepare regular progress updates on a weekly basis or as needed
  • coordinate with internal teams and external partners for the above purposes
Depending on your experience, you may also:
  • help shape business development strategy and priorities for the Americas and Japan
  • manage key relationships with partners, clients and external collaborators and lead assessments on new opportunities
  • mentor and guide more junior team members and set standards for the quality and consistency of our submissions
Requirements:
  • master’s or bachelor’s degree in architecture, urban studies, design, communications, business administration, real estate or a related field
  • four plus years’ of experience in a similar role, preferably within an internationally reputable architecture firm – we welcome both candidates early in this track with strong potential and more experienced professionals
  • experience responding to time‑sensitive RFIs, RFQs, RFPs and client proposals in the US (required for candidates joining at a senior level; strongly preferred otherwise)
  • pro‑active, hands‑on, self‑motivated and confident in a fast‑paced work environment
  • strong team player with the ability to facilitate coordination across internal teams and external partners
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English
  • proficiency in another language, preferably Japanese and/or French, is an asset
  • proficiency in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite, with strong InDesign capabilities
  • demonstrated graphic layout and production skills (please demonstrate in your portfolio) and attention to detail
  • knowledge of OMA’s work and familiarity with the architectural field
What we offer:
  • full‑time employment based in our New York office
  • a salary in the range of USD 75,000–100,000 commensurate with experience, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k), health insurance and 20 vacation days per year, in addition to U.S. public holidays
  • a collaborative and supportive work environment within OMA’s New York team
  • career growth opportunities at a globally recognized firm within the creative and architectural industry
