Job Summary:

The Smart Building Controls (SBC) Business Development Manager will work closely with internal and external partners to ensure profitable growth and expansion of SBC products and services. Responsibilities include developing strategic and tactical business plans, campaign and content development, and managing end-to-end sales activities with targeted accounts and contacts.

This role requires a deep understanding of the building controls market, including researching, analyzing, and identifying current market and technology trends affecting commercial and industrial building controls. Familiarity with marketing and selling technology-based solutions is essential, along with an entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to learn continually.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Develop and execute business plans to achieve profitability and growth targets for SBC.
  2. Identify and develop partnerships within the building controls industry.
  3. Launch new business initiatives on schedule.
  4. Research products, services, competitors, and market trends to inform strategies.
  5. Identify and secure new business with new and existing customers.
  6. Coordinate with EMC sales and marketing on branding, pricing, and marketing strategies.
  7. Develop strategic account plans for targeted accounts and leads.
  8. Manage complex sales processes, including stakeholder identification.
  9. Build relationships with stakeholders, decision-makers, and executives.
  10. Manage sales activities within the CRM system.
  11. Lead the process of launching and managing new opportunities in the CRM.
  12. Set high standards aligned with organizational goals.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

  • Experience with Novar, NexRev, JCI, and/or Siemens systems.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and CRM applications like Salesforce.
Physical Job Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Travel up to 30%.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 20 pounds.
