Position Overview

The Business Development Manager is a role within Kimball Electronics (KE) Shared Services. This remote position is based outside the headquarters in China and reports to Patrick Prondzinski, Vice President of New Business Development. It is a global role responsible for identifying prospective customers and building long-term relationships with OEM customers in the Medical, Automotive, and Industrial markets, primarily focusing on China.

The role involves identifying and securing new customers in the Medical, Industrial, and Automotive sectors. The candidate should be self-motivated, communicative, positive, and culturally adaptable, working with diverse markets including the US, Mexico, China, Thailand, Romania, and Poland.

Basic Background Requirements

This position requires:

  • Remote work capability from China
  • Prospecting and qualifying OEM customers in medical, industrial, or automotive fields
  • Experience with medical product development and understanding of NMPA registration processes
  • Knowledge of customer’s product development processes in relevant markets
  • Ability to lead project teams without direct authority
  • Responsiveness and detailed orientation, including CRM management
  • Experience leading quote activities for potential accounts
  • Effective communication across all organizational levels
  • Willingness to travel extensively within China and internationally
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with problem-solving skills
  • Technical knowledge of Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) and manufacturing processes
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; engineering or technical training is a plus
Key Performance Objectives

Short-term (0-3 months):

  • Understand Kimball’s capabilities and processes
  • Develop CRM proficiency
  • Begin prospecting and managing existing prospects

Mid-term (3-18 months):

  • Secure at least 2 new active accounts per month
  • Complete strategic statements, plant visits, and RFQs regularly

Longer-term (>18 months):

  • Maintain consistent account development and RFQ activity
  • Land 2-3 new customers annually meeting revenue/margin targets

Additional priorities include process improvement within business development.
