Overview

The business development manager is a commercial role responsible for exploring potential business growth opportunities in the Greater China Area.

Purpose

The role's purpose is to monitor changes in each sub-market's business trends by working closely with local partners and government. The role involves co-creating local logistics products with product managers and assisting the sales manager in building future growth plans.

Responsibilities

  1. Deliver controlled ocean and logistics new business targets for Maersk Greater China in the direct transport sales segment.
  2. Identify growth trends in each sub-market.
  3. Develop local ocean and logistics products with product managers to support new business growth.
  4. Translate the area business plan into a direct transport sales execution plan.
  5. Provide local industry insights for sales teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the shipping and logistics industry; passionate about customer engagement and service.
  • Highly collaborative, able to lead cross-functional and remote project teams locally and internationally.
  • Analytical with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Skilled in creating and presenting business proposals that translate local industry growth into structured product value propositions.
  • Proven track record of strong performance delivery.
  • Excellent communication, persuasion, influencing, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated, performance-driven, with strategic thinking and planning skills for both short- and long-term objectives; good time management skills for handling multiple priorities.
