Sales & Business Development Manager (m/f/x) – Industrial Automation

Location: Midwest, USA

Our client, a globally recognized manufacturer of high-performance automation systems for OEM machine builders, is seeking an experienced Sales & Business Development Manager to join their expanding North American sales team. This position is based in the Midwest and is ideal for a self-motivated, technically-savvy professional looking to make a direct impact in a high-growth sector.

This is not just a sales role—it’s a chance to help shape the future of smart manufacturing by providing end-to-end automation solutions, including PLC and HMI systems, motion control, servo drives, and modern application development tools.

About the Role:

You’ll be responsible for driving new business development efforts within the OEM and machine builder space, engaging directly with engineering and decision-making teams to deliver complex, value-driven automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities with target accounts in the OEM sector
  • Conduct in-person and virtual sales meetings to present the full range of automation solutions
  • Deliver product and application demonstrations that highlight the client’s unique value proposition
  • Create solution proposals and quotations tailored to customer needs
  • Close new contracts by leading impactful presentations to key stakeholders
  • Maintain up-to-date sales forecasts and opportunity pipelines
  • Accurately document all activity in CRM systems
  • Stay current on new product releases, solution capabilities, and competitive offerings
  • Support trade shows and industry events as needed

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field (preferred), or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 3–5 years of proven success in sales of automation systems, motion control, or drive technologies
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with a consultative sales approach
  • Hunter mentality—self-driven with a passion for building new relationships
  • Technical aptitude and the ability to understand and explain complex solutions
