Job description

Business Development Manager (BDM) – Residential Construction Sales

Company: MID Construction Group

Location: Remote – Open to Candidates Anywhere in the United States

Employment Type: Part-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM Pacific Time

Compensation: $20/hour + Uncapped Commission

Estimated On-Target Earnings (OTE): $100,000–$250,000 per year, including hourly pay and performance-based commissions.

About MID Construction Group

MID Construction Group is a design-build construction firm specializing in ground-up single-family homes and multifamily projects throughout Los Angeles and surrounding markets. We have a strong internal team, proven systems, and established processes to support high-performing sales professionals.

We are hiring Business Development Managers (BDMs) to play a central role in our residential construction sales operation. This is a full-cycle sales position for motivated professionals who can generate their own opportunities, build client relationships, manage the sales process, and close new construction projects.

This is a remote opportunity open to candidates anywhere in the United States, offering an hourly base of $20 plus uncapped, performance-based commissions. Estimated on-target earnings range from $100,000 to $250,000 annually, including hourly compensation and commissions. These earnings are estimates, not guaranteed compensation, and depend on individual sales performance.

We provide structured training, recorded estimate presentations, templates, and ongoing process guidance to help you succeed.

About the Role

As a Business Development Manager, you will own the full sales cycle, from initial prospecting and lead generation through qualification, estimating coordination, client presentations, negotiations, and signed contracts.

This is a hands-on closing role. You will be expected to consistently generate your own opportunities through outbound prospecting rather than relying on SDR-generated leads or inbound handoffs.

You will maintain ownership of the client relationship throughout the sales process, ensuring every qualified opportunity has clear next steps and continues progressing toward a signed construction contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct consistent outbound prospecting, including cold calling and outreach to homeowners, developers, and property owners.
  • Identify, engage, and qualify potential clients for new residential construction projects.
  • Educate prospects on MID Construction's services, capabilities, and design-build process.
  • Build relationships with homeowners, developers, and other decision-makers.
  • Secure architectural plans, project details, and other necessary documentation from qualified prospects.
  • Coordinate with internal estimating teams to prepare project estimates and proposals.
  • Present estimates to prospective clients and explain project scope, pricing, and next steps.
  • Handle client questions, objections, negotiations, and follow-up conversations.
  • Manage opportunities through defined CRM stages, from initial contact to signed contracts.
  • Coordinate and participate in client meetings, job walks, and site visits.
  • Maintain consistent communication with prospects and ensure timely follow-up.
  • Collaborate with estimating, construction management, and administrative teams throughout the sales process.
  • Maintain ownership of the client relationship and deal progression through contract execution.

You will be accountable for developing and managing your own sales pipeline, maintaining consistent activity, and converting qualified opportunities into signed construction projects.

Key expectations include:
  • Consistent daily outbound prospecting and new opportunity generation.
  • Accurate and up-to-date CRM documentation.
  • Clear next steps and timely follow-up for every active opportunity.
  • Effective management of estimates, proposals, and client communications.
  • Accountability for pipeline development, deal progression, and closed business.
  • Consistent improvement in sales performance and closing effectiveness.

Specific activity and production targets will be defined separately by management.

Training & Internal Support

MID Construction Group provides structured resources and internal support to help you become effective in the role.

You will receive:
  • Training materials and guidance on MID's sales process.
  • Recorded estimate presentations and sales examples.
  • Templates and resources for prospect communication and follow-up.
  • Guidance on construction fundamentals, project scope, and estimating.
  • Ongoing support from company leadership and internal teams.

Steve and management will coordinate local site visits and job tours and participate in technical discussions or estimate presentations when necessary.

However, the BDM will remain responsible for maintaining the client relationship, managing follow-up, and driving each opportunity forward. Internal support is intended to strengthen your sales efforts, not replace your ownership of the deal.

Who This Role Is For

This opportunity is ideal for someone who:

  • Has experience in business development, outside sales, residential construction sales, or a related field.
  • Is comfortable with cold calling, outbound prospecting, and generating new business.
  • Has strong closing skills and can confidently manage sales conversations.
  • Can independently manage a sales pipeline from initial contact through contract execution.
  • Is comfortable discussing project estimates, pricing, and construction services with clients.
  • Can build trust and credibility with homeowners, developers, and property owners.
  • Is highly organized and disciplined with CRM usage and follow-up.
  • Is coachable, proactive, and motivated by performance-based compensation.
  • Takes ownership of individual sales results and pipeline development.

Residential construction or real estate industry experience is preferred. However, candidates with strong full-cycle sales and closing experience in related industries will also be considered.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role will be measured by your ability to consistently generate opportunities, manage the sales pipeline, and close residential construction projects.

Key indicators include:
  • Consistent outbound prospecting and qualified pipeline creation.
  • Strong client engagement and relationship management.
  • Timely coordination and presentation of project estimates.
  • Effective objection handling and follow-up.
  • Opportunities progressing through CRM stages with clear next steps.
  • Qualified prospects converting into signed contracts.
  • Strong collaboration with internal estimating and construction teams.
  • Accountability for individual production and revenue generation.

If you are a self-driven sales professional who enjoys building relationships, generating opportunities, and closing deals, we invite you to join MID Construction Group and grow with our team.
