Location: Hutchinson, KS

About the Role

The Business Development Manager (Great Plains) will lead efforts to source and secure organic waste streams for Vaulted’s Great Plains facility. This role is critical to ensuring a reliable, high-quality feedstock pipeline that meets both operational and carbon removal performance targets.

You will own regional waste sourcing strategy and execution - identifying, qualifying, and closing supply opportunities while working cross-functionally to ensure operational readiness.

As the Business Development Manager at Vaulted, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Waste Sourcing & Portfolio Development: Build and maintain a robust pipeline of organic waste streams with strong Carbon Removal Unit (CRU) ratio (>0.3) and sufficient volumes to support facility operations

  • Market Intelligence: Monitor regional market dynamics, including regulatory developments, community sentiment, and competitive activity, and translate insights into actionable strategy

  • Sampling & Qualification: Collect and coordinate organic waste sampling, ensuring adherence to Vaulted protocols and maintaining an accurate, up-to-date database of qualified feedstock

  • Site Visits and Operations Oversight: Conduct frequent visits to the offsite location to monitor daily operations, ensuring that the operation is running efficiently. Address any issues in real-time to maintain productivity.

  • Local Operations Collaboration: Keep the Local Operations Manager fully informed about the status of the offsite operation, including any challenges, progress, and potential issues. Provide regular updates on key performance metrics.

  • Operations Meetings: Attend daily operations meetings to report on offsite progress, collaborate with other teams, and discuss any immediate needs or concerns.

  • Volume Estimation: Accurately estimate and track the volume of materials ready for shipment to the main location.

  • Coordination with Crews: Work closely with the offsite teams to set daily operational goals, monitor progress, and ensure that targets are met in a timely manner.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner closely with Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, and Legal to advance opportunities from sourcing through execution

  • Reporting & Performance Tracking: Develop and maintain clear reporting on pipeline health, conversion, risks, and key metrics for leadership visibility

  • Process Improvement: Improve and standardize business development tools, workflows, and qualification frameworks to increase speed and repeatability

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and manage relationships with waste generators, municipalities, and industrial partners; lead reviews and executive-level discussions as needed

What You Will Bring
  • 5-10 years of experience in business development, commercial operations, or field-based roles (waste management, agriculture, industrials, or related sectors preferred)
  • Proven ability to source, negotiate, and close supply or commercial agreements
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities in parallel
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally
  • Ability to operate independently in a field-driven role while staying aligned with a fast-moving team
  • Strategic mindset with strong execution discipline
