Carga, a leading maritime intelligence provider, seeks a Business Development Manager in the Greater Houston area. This full-time, hybrid role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, nurturing strategic relationships, and driving revenue growth in maritime and logistics sectors.

You'll manage the sales pipeline, conduct client meetings, negotiate agreements, collaborate with product, marketing, and operations, and travel for key meetings and events as needed to strengthen market

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management in maritime, logistics or related SaaS/tech industries.
  • Lead generation, pipeline management and deal negotiation with revenue targets.
  • Ability to build long-term client relationships and present complex solutions clearly.
  • Experience with CRM tools, sales analytics and BI concepts for data-driven decisions.
  • Understanding of commercial contracts, pricing models and value-based selling in B2B environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work on-site in a fast-paced cross-functional environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain or related field; relevant maritime/logistics experience is beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings, conferences, and events.

Role Description

The Business Development Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Greater Houston. This role is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, nurturing strategic relationships, and driving revenue growth within the maritime and logistics sectors. Day-to-day activities include prospecting and qualifying leads, conducting client meetings and presentations, managing the sales pipeline, and negotiating commercial agreements. The Business Development Manager will collaborate closely with product, marketing, and operations teams to develop compelling value propositions, support customer onboarding, and ensure long-term client satisfaction. The role also involves market research, competitive analysis, and participation in industry events to strengthen Carga's market presence and inform go-to-market strategies.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in maritime, logistics, or related SaaS/technology industries.
  • Strong skills in lead generation, pipeline management, and deal negotiation, with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
  • Ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships, conduct effective presentations, and communicate complex solutions clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with CRM tools, sales analytics, and basic business intelligence concepts to inform data-driven decision-making.
  • Solid understanding of commercial contracts, pricing models, and value-based selling in B2B environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong professional etiquette and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Comfort working on-site and collaborating cross-functionally with product, marketing, and operations teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field; relevant maritime or logistics experience is highly beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, industry conferences, and business events as needed.
Requirements
  • Based in the Greater Houston area
  • 3-5 years minimum sales experience
  • Strong understanding of maritime, terminal operations, oil & gas, and SaaS are highly beneficial
