Sigma Design Inc. is seeking a reluctant Business Development Manager for a hybrid role based in Burlingame, CA.

The incumbent will drive growth across GSE, DCIM, Sub-Fab, and Humanoid Robotics Testing & Development, leveraging a regional network and strategic sales approach. The role requires 5+ years in field sales within product design/engineering, strong English communication, and the ability to present to executives.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in a technical or engineering discipline preferred.
• 5+ years of field sales experience in product design/engineering.
• Knowledge of GSE, DCIM, Sub-Fab, HRTD preferred.
• Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
• Experience presenting to engineering managers and C-level executives.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Create opportunities through market expansion in the assigned region focusing on GSE, DCIM, Sub-Fab and HRTD.
• Collaborate with customers using a strategic consultative sales approach to understand needs and priorities.
• Attend networking events, tradeshows, and conferences to generate leads and establish industry expertise.
• Assist Applications Engineering by defining customer requirements, developing proposals, and closing opportunities.
• Perform standard business development activities (cold calling, CRM maintenance, follow-up).
• Follow Business Technology policies to protect data and reduce security incidents.

Business Development Manager (Hybrid - Bay Area, CA)

Position Details:

• The hiring range for this role is typically between $116,000and $144,000 annually, with the full range extending to $172,000 annually, based on experience, internal equity, and career progression
• This position will be Hybrid, based out Burlingame CA
• Monday - Friday, Day Shift
• Travel Required

Primary Function:

The Business Development Manager (BDM) sells the entire range of Sigma Design services, with a primary focus on Ground Support Equipment (GSE), Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM), Sub-Fab (semiconductor), and Humanoid Robotics Testing & Development (HRTD).

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

• Create opportunities through market expansion activities in the assigned region, with a focus on the industries listed above.
• Collaborate with customers through a strategic and consultative sales approach to understand their business needs, issues, strategies, and priorities.
• Attend networking events, tradeshows, and conferences in order to generate leads and become an industry expert.
• Assist the Applications Engineering team with defining customer requirements, developing and presenting proposals, and closing the opportunity.
• Perform standard business development activities (cold calling, CRM maintenance, client follow-up, etc.)
• Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)

• BA/BS Degree (or equivalent) in a technical or engineering discipline preferred.
• 5+ years of field sales experience, preferably in the product design/engineering industry.
• Knowledge and/or networks in GSE, DCIM, Sub-Fab, and HRTD strongly preferred.
• Proven ability to network, develop and maintain business relationships.
• Experience giving presentations to key decision makers from engineering managers to C-level executives.
• Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
• Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.
• Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values.
• Pass a post-offer background verification

Work Environment

Standard office environment with normal office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to travel for events such as tradeshows.
