Job description

Join to apply for the Business Development Manager role at Beacon Biosignals

Beacon Biosignals is on a mission to revolutionize precision medicine for the brain. We are the leading at-home EEG platform supporting clinical development of novel therapeutics for neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders. Our FDA 510(k)-cleared Dreem EEG headband and AI algorithms enable quantitative biomarker discovery and implementation. Beacon’s Clinico-EEG database contains EEG data from nearly 100,000 patients, and our cloud-native analytics platform powers large-scale RWD/RWE retrospective and predictive studies. Beacon Biosignals is changing the way that patients are treated for any disorder that affects brain physiology.

Beacon Biosignals is seeking a driven, strategic, scientifically-oriented Business Development Manager to identify and build our revenue-generating partnerships with large pharma, biotech, and medical technology target customers. This role involves both strategic and tactical work to support Beacon’s growth across all stages of the customer adoption spectrum. The role is critical for establishing new customer relationships by identifying, pitching, nurturing, and supporting negotiations of opportunities to contribute to customers’ clinical development objectives in neurology, psychiatry, and sleep-related disorders using Beacon’s products and services.

This is an independent contributor role in the commercial organization reporting directly to the Chief Business Officer. The position could evolve to include responsibilities in alliance management, customer success, and key account management as Beacon expands its portfolio of customer programs in clinical development.

This is a remote position, with periodic travel to customer meetings expected. Candidates near Boston and New York City are preferred to reduce travel requirements.

What Success Looks Like
  1. Develop and nurture strategic relationships with biopharma companies, CROs, and industry stakeholders, leveraging scientific expertise to build trust and credibility.
  2. Drive business development efforts by articulating the scientific and clinical value of Beacon’s technology, focusing on psychiatry, neurology, and sleep-related disorders.
  3. Operate effectively in a startup environment by prioritizing valuable activities to support growth.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support partnerships, including Neuroscience, Data Science, Data Engineering, Clinical Operations, and Leadership.
  5. Deepen existing customer relationships through thought leadership and scientifically-grounded insights.
  6. Prepare and deliver presentations, white papers, and scientific content to high-level stakeholders, including PhD-level scientists and executives.
  7. Support, but not lead, complex negotiations to maximize value for Beacon and its partners.
  8. Analyze industry and business intelligence data to provide actionable insights for growth.
  9. Maintain business development activities in a CRM and support lead generation efforts.
What You Will Bring
  1. Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  2. 3+ years of experience in consulting with the biopharmaceutical industry, preferably in R&D, clinical development, or CROs.
  3. Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or Master’s) in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
  4. Experience in business development and sales, with preference for neuroscience, neurotech, clinical strategy, or operations.
  5. Deep understanding of clinical trials, neurotechnology, and the biopharma landscape.
  6. Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and goal-oriented mindset.
  7. Exceptional analytical skills for interpreting clinical and scientific data.
  8. Excellent writing and presentation skills, with ability to translate scientific content into insights.
  9. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
  10. Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).
  11. Willingness to travel quarterly for meetings and industry events.
  12. Empathy for stakeholders, including pharma customers, healthcare professionals, colleagues, and patients.

The salary range is based on experience and skills, and the total compensation includes equity, PTO, and other benefits.

At Beacon, we value curiosity, simplicity, composability, self-service, and empathy. We believe diversity fosters innovation and impact.
