Job summary

Hill Country Search Advisors, LLC in Austin, TX, is partnering with a mid-sized company to fill a Business Development Manager role focused on the Data Center sector. You will lead the company’s business development efforts, report to the COO, and collaborate with Sales, Operations and the Executive team.

Starting as an individual contributor, you will build a pipeline, develop GTM strategies, manage client relationships, and drive revenue growth while shaping future leadership opportunities

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of progressive experience in Business Development or a related function.
  • Experience in industries such as Construction, Engineering, Oil & Gas, Utilities, or Facilities Services is preferred.
  • Significant exposure to Data Centers is required.
  • Proven track record of identifying new opportunities and generating revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new business opportunities and build go-to-market strategies for Data Center clients.
  • Develop relationships across the Data Center value chain and present service capabilities to prospects and partners.
  • Conduct market research to build a robust pipeline and leverage existing networks.
  • Lead sales process, assist with proposals, and coordinate with Sales and Operations for tailored offerings.

Job description

We have partnered with a well-established, mid-sized company based in Austin, Texas in its search for a Business Development Manager. The company provides logistics and facilities services to a broad range of corporate customers in multiple industries, including Construction & Engineering, Oil & Gas, Utilities, and Data Centers. Services include facilities management, maintenance, security, workforce logistics, equipment, lodging, and hospitality items that serve remote workforces and their employers.

This individual will lead the company’s business development efforts within the fast-growing Data Center sector, which is experiencing a high level of demand for the company’s services throughout the U.S. This position will report to the COO, while working closely with Sales, Operations, and the Executive team. Starting as an individual contributor, this person will have the ability to build a team, while taking on progressive strategic and operational leadership duties within the company.

Job duties will include, although not be limited to the following:
  • Identifying new business opportunities and building go-to-market strategies tailored for Data Center clients
  • Developing relationships across the Data Center value chain, while presenting company service capabilities to key prospects, business partners, and industry network
  • Performing market research in order to build a pipeline of target customers, while tapping into the company’s existing network of current and previous customers
  • Performing competitive analysis in order to explore new product and service offerings, enhance current offerings, maintain competitive pricing models, observe and react to industry trends, and continue to build best practices.
  • Facilitating the sales process while assisting with proposals, making introductions, attending meetings with target customers, responding to information requests, and collaborating with Sales & Operations to provide offerings that are tailored for each specific customer.
  • Representing the company at trade shows, conferences, and other industry-specific events while presenting service capabilities to a broad audience
  • Supporting customer engagement by maintaining positive rapport and consistent communication with customers throughout the sales & service cycles, while assessing ongoing and future needs, identifying areas for improvement, and promoting long-term partnerships.
  • Spearheading the pursuit of major projects, while serving as a quasi-project manager, facilitating the collaboration between various intra-company functions (i.e. Sales, Marketing, Operations, Executives, etc.)
  • Leading the ongoing optimization of systems and processes related to Sales and Business Development, while maintaining key metrics and other valuable data insights
To be considered, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • At least five (5) years of progressive experience within Business Development or a relevant function such as Sales, Marketing, Client Service, etc. Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Prior experience within an industry such as Construction, Engineering, Oil & Gas, Energy, Utilities, Facilities Services or similar sector is strongly preferred.
  • Significant exposure to Data Centers from a previous position is needed
  • Track record of identifying & qualifying new opportunities, cultivating business relationships, influencing stakeholders, and facilitating revenue generation
  • Strong client service skills, with a track record of building and maintaining positive relationships with clients / customers.
  • Outstanding communication & interpersonal skills, with a driven, professional demeanor and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to travel on an as-needed basis to attend conferences, trade shows, and client meetings.
