Business Development - Energy Procurement (Deregulated Markets)

This role sits at the front of the energy procurement process.

You will identify organizations with upcoming electricity and natural gas contracts, engage decision-makers to understand their energy requirements, and introduce structured procurement strategies designed to reduce cost, manage price risk, and improve budget certainty.

This is an ideal role for someone who wants to build deep expertise in energy markets while developing a commercial career within energy procurement and advisory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify companies operating in deregulated electricity and natural gas markets with upcoming contract renewals or procurement needs
  • Engage energy, finance, and facilities stakeholders to understand current supply arrangements, risk tolerance, and procurement objectives
  • Introduce competitive sourcing and tendering strategies for electricity and gas supply contracts
  • Qualify opportunities based on contract timing, energy usage, market location, and procurement complexity
  • Coordinate with internal analysts to support preliminary pricing assessments and supplier engagement
  • Support preparation of procurement proposals and client-facing materials
  • Track procurement opportunities, contract timelines, and deal stages in CRM systems
  • Monitor supplier activity, pricing trends, and market conditions to support targeted outreach
  • Build long-term relationships with clients focused on recurring energy procurement and contract renewals
Candidate Profile

Required

  • 1–5+ years of experience in energy procurement, energy brokerage, energy consulting, energy supply, or B2B sales within energy markets
  • Working knowledge of U.S. deregulated electricity and/or natural gas markets
  • Understanding of competitive supplier sourcing, contract structures, or energy tenders
  • Comfortable discussing pricing structures, contract terms, and market timing with clients
  • Self-motivated and able to manage outreach and pipeline development independently
  • Strong organizational and CRM discipline
