Job summary

Aligned Data Centers, LLC seeks a Power Market Strategy & Analysis professional to support evaluation of utility options, analyze market developments across ERCOT, PJM, MISO, and SPP, and track prices and capacity markets. You will help with regulatory support, commercial transactions, and natural gas market insights to inform data center power procurement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 3-7 years of relevant experience in utilities, IPPs, power marketers, energy consulting, energy procurement, or related areas.
• Fundamental understanding of wholesale electricity markets, utility rate structures, capacity markets, and energy economics.

Responsibilities

• Support evaluation of utility service options, generation alternatives, and power supply structures.
• Analyze power market developments across ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, and other key regions.
• Track power prices, basis trends, congestion patterns, capacity markets, and resource adequacy developments.
• Maintain intelligence on regulatory and technology developments impacting data center power procurement.
• Support utility engagement efforts related to new campus development, tariffs, rate structures, interconnection requirements, and load growth programs.
• Monitor regulatory proceedings and policy developments that may impact power delivery and large-load customers.
• Develop briefing materials for internal stakeholders.
• Support energy procurement initiatives including utility service agreements, energy supply agreements, power & capacity purchases, and transmission arrangements.
• Manage data rooms, due diligence requests, RFP processes, and internal transaction tracking.
• Develop working knowledge of natural gas market fundamentals and related arrangements.
• Prepare leadership presentations, investment committee materials, site strategy summaries, risk assessments, and commercial recommendation memos.

Key Responsibilities

Power Market Strategy & Analysis

• Support evaluation of utility service options, generation alternatives, and power supply structures.
• Analyze power market developments across ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, and other key regions.

Utility & Regulatory Support

Commercial Transaction Support

• Support energy procurement initiatives including:
  • Utility service agreements
  • Energy supply agreements
  • Power & capacity purchases
  • Transmission arrangements
  • Short-term and long-term procurement activities
• Manage data rooms, due diligence requests, RFP processes, and internal transaction tracking.

Natural Gas Market Support

• Develop working knowledge of:
  • Natural gas supply fundamentals
  • Pipeline infrastructure
  • Transportation agreements
  • Fuel supply economics
• Support internal evaluations involving:
  • Gas-fired generation
  • BTM generation solutions
  • Fuel supply alternatives

Executive & Strategic Support

• Prepare:
  • Leadership presentations

  • Site strategy summaries
  • Risk assessments
  • Commercial recommendation memos
• Support cross-functional teams including Development, Finance, Construction, Legal, Utility Infrastructure, and Operations.
