Job summary

GEODIS USA, LLC in Humble, TX is seeking a Business Development Director for Military & Defense to define the global strategy, own NA customer relationships, and drive high-value proposals.

You will lead a team, manage RFIs/RFQs, and grow the Military & Defense portfolio across regions, staying informed on world events affecting defense needs. Travel is required.

Qualifications

• 10 years freight forwarding experience.
• Deep knowledge of industry and markets with proven contacts.
• Solid operational knowledge of customer operations.

Responsibilities

• Creates the global strategy for Military and Defense business with Regions and Head Office.
• Develops and owns relationships with North American customers and regional directors.
• Drives value propositions and leads proposals for must-win opportunities.
• Works with Regions on budgets, prospects and strategic requirements.
• Owns and supports RFIs and RFQs and ensures bids are completed.
• Develops growth for Military & Defense portfolio across own and existing accounts.

Your role on the team:

• Creates the global strategy for the development of Military and Defense business in conjunction with the Region and Head Office
• Develops and owns the relationships with all North American Customer(s) and works with the other regional directors in this segment, as well as the global strategy partner
• Drives the value propositions and personally leads the proposals for the identified must wins
• Works with the Regions on budgets, prospect opportunities and strategic requirements
• Owns/supports RFI’s and RFQ’s and ensures the bids are completed
• Develops growth for the Military & Defense portfolio – both own accounts as well as any existing accounts
• Keeps updated on all world events that are connected to the need for the defense sector
• Leads a team that is created to build this business

What you need:

• Regional Travel due to the global aspect of the role
• Proven record of business development success, validated by experience listingDeep knowledge of industry and markets / sectors, validated by proven contacts
• Must have 10 years freight forwarding experience
• Must have solid operational knowledge, and be able to speak to the operations of the customer
