Our growing Business Development team plays a pivotal role in driving company growth through strategic opportunity identification and pursuit support.

Position Overview

The Business Development Coordinator supports the Director of Business Development by managing the opportunity pipeline, conducting market research, and assisting in capture and pursuit activities. This role is key to ensuring timely, accurate, and actionable intelligence to maximize business growth and contract wins.

The qualified candidate must thrive in an environment where they are part of a small, empowered team supporting the full capture life cycle across multiple priority pursuits and proposals. Focus areas include IC, DoD, and other Federal Government Agencies with special emphasis on the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) SITE III, the Army Responsive Strategic Sourcing for Services (RS3) contract vehicles, and GSA and other contract vehicles such as OASIS+.

We are an agile team looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-directed team player with a "roll up your sleeves" mentality to accelerate new business growth. They will support specific capture, business development, and proposal development activities. They will enable pipeline management reviews, support opportunity research, conduct technical and opportunity data mining, lead specific captures (with team guidance), and facilitate teammate data calls, analysis, and decision-making. They will support our proposal automation tools and leverage automation to simplify access to prior proposal materials, past performance, and graphics. They will play a key role in supporting the proposal team through compliance reviews, proposal template analysis, and supporting color review administration. They will coordinate, prepare, analyze, and respond to data requests and past experience capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate will exercise sound judgment within broadly defined practices and policies; regularly interact with various management, functional POCs, staff, and customers; display a high degree of attention to detail; and successfully operate across multiple areas of responsibilities.
  • Monitor federal procurement platforms (e.g., SAM.gov, GovWin, FPDS) to identify and qualify new opportunities aligned with company capabilities.
  • Maintain and update the BD pipeline database, tracking all active pursuits and opportunities.
  • Conduct in-depth market and competitive research to inform pursuit strategies and identify emerging trends.
  • Support specific capture, business development, and proposal development activities, including white papers, RFIs, sources sought, workshops, opportunity gate reviews, collaboration sessions, and proposal review administration.
  • Support capture efforts by gathering customer insights, preparing capture plans, and assisting with teaming partner coordination.
  • Enable pipeline management reviews, support opportunity research, conduct technical and opportunity data mining, and facilitate teammate data calls, analysis, and decision-making.
  • Manage and maintain CRM systems, ensuring data integrity and reporting metrics to senior leadership.
  • Support proposal automation tools and leverage automation to simplify access to prior proposal materials, past performance, and graphics. Play a key role in supporting the proposal team through compliance reviews, proposal template analysis, and supporting color review administration. They will coordinate and respond to teaming data calls and past experience requests. They will coordinate teammate proposal writing assignments and graphics as necessary.
  • Assist in the preparation of gate reviews, business reviews, and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Proposal Writer to ensure accurate and timely proposal submissions.
  • Support business intelligence and competitor analysis efforts.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

OPERATING HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS

  • This position anticipates standard work hours, Monday-Friday, with occasional surge periods based on workload.
  • This position is expected to perform work with a hybrid schedule between on-site at the Ashburn headquarters and remote. The exact expectations will be discussed as a part of the interview process

TRAVEL

  • Some travel to industry events and customer sites may be expected, ~10%.

Qualifications

CLEARANCE

  • This position does not require an active security clearance at the time of application.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, required.
  • Top Secret (TS) clearance or higher, desired.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferred.
  • Additional years of experience may be substituted for the formal degree requirement.

Certification(s):

  • CFAP. APMP, desired.

Required Skills And Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in business development, capture support, or proposal coordination-preferably in government contracting.
  • Experience supporting business development in federal, DoD, or Intelligence Community environments.
  • Familiarity with federal acquisition processes and platforms (SAM.gov, FPDS, GovWin, etc.).
  • Familiarity with federal contract vehicles like IDIQ and GWAC.
  • Ability to gather and analyze customer and competitive intelligence relevant to defense and IC missions.
  • Exposure to capture support in secure or classified environments, with awareness of CUI handling.
  • Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Participation in proposal reviews and understanding of capture lifecycle best practices.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar), MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to use automated tools such as Microsoft Office and Pipeline Management tools to present ideas, information, and reports.
